1.5 YEARS OFF GRID & BUILDING ALONE (NEW project changes EVERYTHING) ep.15

When we moved to our land 1.5 years ago we had many plans, but only one clear goal in mind, to become as self sufficient as possible. But we are only 2 people doing everything alone, and the only way to successfully approach this grand plan was to start somewhere, and go day by day.
First we built a Cabin as a temporary home, in the meantime we created a food garden to eat from, and later we set our off grid solar system up in a temporary location to produce our own clean electricity. And now we are building the workshop, a project that will change everything. The idea with this new project was to create a multifunctional space, to install the solar panels on top, facing South and that could host many different uses, like, a work space covered from the rain, greenhouse for growing food in winter, on site laundry, adding extra storage space or even converting it into a guest house in the future.

The main design goal was that we could take it a part at any given time and install it in a different part of the land. Because for us, budget is a big part of the equation, so having a building that serves several uses and that can be reused elsewhere in a few years is very important.

This week we made this new project a reality.

  2. I confess that I'm fascinated by your work… (and I've already said in other videos, that I became a fan of LSF structures) But the harmony you are creating… is breathtaking. Just wonderful

  3. Love watching you work! And generally, I love your video editing. However, this video felt disjointed. The constant flashes to flowers during the work process after the first couple times made me want to stop watching. Please don't hate me for sharing this feedback. I just hope you'll stick to showing the work without so many unnecessary interruptions.

  4. Your videos are amazing. I love the editing style and music combination. Also knowing when to have natural sounds and music is key. Thank you for showing this to the world, and making it in such a beautiful way. great work on the house and new project. your both have great attention to detail and quality.

All that said i do have a question and sorry if its been answered already. Where do you get your water from, and is there plans for rainwater collecting in the future?

  5. Great to see your hard work and determination to succeed had paid off, the workshop looks great.
One question…as you want to be as self sufficient as possible, did you not consider adding guttering to either building for the collection of rain water?

  6. Awesome workshop congratulations! It looks so cute yet, functional, practical for
what its required for and, clean and modern. Its the bomb luv it, well done ❤️❤️

  7. I finally found the time to sit down and watch this episode. Great work and you two flew through putting those walls up. It will be interesting to see just how you inhabit the interior with your plans and ideas.

  8. Great design, great attention to detail, great resourcefulness! As well as a great studio/workshop, you have produced another outstanding video. Thankyou for the wonderful time I have had enjoying following this. I look forward to next month to see what else you guys are doing! Fantastic! Cheers, Ian

  9. Hi guys…great work. This summer I will kind of fallow in your footsteps in Dominican Republic…Wish me luck 🙂
Do you mind me asking where you guys are from?….ethnic background?…I am just curious

  10. QUESTION: Do you have any secrets or advice on how to deal with the abejas? I am absolutely terrified 🫣🥺😱 of all of them and can’t enjoy nature like I want to because of that fear.

  11. LOVED this episode! Such good vibes! The studio is looking next level! The plants that Eugenia placed in front are perfect. Not to mention all that good food! But, I think you better keep a close eye on Lolita as she seems to want the keys to the Landy! 😸😁👐

  12. I love this project. Do you ever get worried about the human requirement of socializing with a community? I haven't seen many other people in these videos. Such incredible work overall, and the videos are so well put-together, thank you for making them.
