#1 I Bought an Abandoned Farm in PORTUGAL 🏡

My family and I left Belgium and moved to Portugal to start a new life. My sister and I bought an abandoned piece of land with a cottage and a barn on it. Our plan is to restore the farm and convert the barn into a home.

We’re nursing the land back to life after it has been neglected for so long. We left the city to live a more meaningful and simple life more in tune with nature. Being Spanish and Portuguese and moving here to Portugal, the land of my ancestors, has felt like finally coming home.

We’re trying to be more self-sufficient and trying to go off-grid as much as possible. Follow us along on our journey as we clear the land, renovate the house and barn, start a garden in the future and do many other projects.

Thank you for watching and joining us on our journey!

  1. Hello everyone who has been following me since the beginning of my reaction days when the channel was still called bbangerang. I have decided to start a new chapter in my life and have rebranded my channel. I as a person have changed a lot and the channel is evolving with me.

I had a lot of fun with the reactions, but as I said a lot has happened over the years and I have moved on from that. I still love and adore watching tv shows and movies, but i’m not recording them anymore.

I was stuck for so long trying to figure out what to do with the channel that it left me stuck with inaction. That’s why i have decided to rebrand. I understand if I’m gonna lose a lot of subscribers because i’m not going to post any more reactions. For the people who are still here for me, i invite you to follow along on my new journey in life.

Thank you for watching, supporting and all the love over the years, here’s to a new chapter!

    Love Daeny/ Debora

  3. Good luck with your project. The basis is good. Try and look up as much info as possible on how to renovate and tend the land, and ask for advise from other expats who have done the same thing in Portugal . Slower with the camera movements. 👍

  4. Ohhh! What a beautiful place! I've subscribed & am looking forward to following along & seeing you progress on your journey! We've just started the process of looking for something similar on Sao Miguel/Azores. Something w/good bones that is in good enough shape to live in (or can easily be upgraded to that state) that we can remodel room by room over time–plus has a small farm/large garden & and annex/out building that can be upgraded to a 2nd living space just like you have. Your place is gorgeous & I'll def learn a lot following along too. Congratulations!

  5. U believe you are favoring evaporation from the soil when you remove all that material around the base of the trees, are you going to apply mulch or just leave the bare soil like that?

  6. What a great project. You are giving the house and garden a second life and will be no doubt rewarded. Of course lots of work ahead of you but baby steps will feel so good. Not sure how you got to the top of my feed but I am happy to have found you! Best of luck to you.

  7. Hi there , May I know the Average cost of that kind of property and the Size of the property please …thank you ..I think Belgium is very beautiful, why would you leave Belgium ?

  8. Good luck in your adventure here in my country ……..great place you got there great Marocan tiles maybe you dont know MOORS lived here many centuries we still have big influences all arround i feel very much their culture AND WHO KNOWS my grand grand father was one of them i really hope you enjoy YOUR STAY (about the false roof you may use all height to the tiles the house gets wider or even make a mezzanine ,and break the wall and do an open space living room kitchen, just my opinion!!!!!!!)big hug from LISBON,any help please ask!!!!

  9. Muito bem! Parabéns por dignificar essas moradias tão belas e esses espaços de outrora, que as pessoas foram abandonando para ir para as cidades. Tanta ilusão! Boa sorte 👍👏🐶🌿

  10. You should not be removing the weed and mulch from the ground. That itself will keep the soil cool, moist and will help your trees to grow healthier and faster. Please follow permaculture principles to transform your garden.

  11. I hope you're prepared to deal with a lot of unsolicited advice.

For instance, your water usage with the method of irrigation you're using is not efficient. Is your water provided by the city or do you have your own well? Install drip irrigation as soon as possible. Each of those trees needs at least 3 drip emitters, 2 meters away from the tree trunk. The main roots of the trees are no longer near the trunk.

    Good luck!
