10 Cheap and Safe Cities to Relocate in Europe.
Living and travelling through Europe is a dream for many people. The entire continent is saturated with culture and history that you can experience through stunning architecture, countless museums, and famous cultural sites. Europe also boasts everything from Mediterranean beaches to Alpine skiing, and from big-city living to rural retreats. Though small, Europe is diverse enough that almost anyone can find the ideal place for their dream lifestyle. And now, thanks in part to the continuing weakness of the euro, it is more affordable than ever to live in Europe. You can find properties to rent for less than $600 a month in many places and homes available to purchase for less than $100,000. Food is cheap as well, and you can pay $10 or less for everything from three-course meals to bags of fresh produce. This varied continent has long been popular for travellers and expats alike. However, not all European countries once popular with expats offer the same experiences today. Don’t get us wrong – they’re still great places. But if you’re after somewhere to live, you might like somewhere more local – and affordable.
Before you dive into our list, remember that the cost of living shouldn’t be your sole guiding factor. All places have their own unique flavour. It’s important to know what kind of experience you want before unpacking your suitcase.
Not every location in Europe offers up the same great deals, though. That is why we have put together the following list of the 10 best cities in Europe to live in luxury and safety on the cheap.
10. Bucharest, Romania.
Bucharest is the largest city in Romania. It is the capital, commercial, financial and cultural centre of the country. It is located in the southern region of Romania on the banks of the Dâmbovita tributary. Its iconic landmark is the massive communist-era Palatul Parlamentului government building which has 1100 rooms. Nearby, the historic Lipscani district is home to an energetic night-life scene. The population of this town as of 2019 according to Eurostat was 1.83 million, making it the sixth-largest city in the European Union by population within city limits. This city is brimming with Italian style cafés. Economically, Bucharest is the most prosperous city in Romania. The city has a number of large convention facilities, Educational institutions, cultural venues and recreational areas. Everyone can wander around and explore our city without any safety issues being involved. While a very safe city, we do recommend staying in the city centre once night falls as it is always police protected and extremely lively. The only thing you have to keep in mind are the pickpockets, so it’s best to keep your valuables, phone, and wallet safe and secure, especially in crowded areas, shops, cafés, or on public transport.
