Hello 👋 Merry Christmas 🎄 we will be starting construction on adding a bedroom my master with on suite this year very exciting and I’m keeping all of these design tips in mind. Great video as always 😊
Love your thoughts on this topic, especially contrast…in color and in styles. I think a must have in a home is a scheme for organizing “stuff”. No matter what the scheme, I think it is imperative to have a clutter-free space that one can relax in. Can be built ins, designated furniture (just saw a beautiful sideboard used for…… shoes!) or basket systems. Just something to corral the necessary clutter of a home.
Wonderful video ❤. Thank you for sharing!
16:55 Hi Garrett! Another great video! I still haven’t quite gotten the hang of shelf styling. I love your examples. I just need to gather and unclutter my shelves to give them a designer look. They need paint as well! 😮 I also love the mural in gray scale. Wow! IDK why I use gray in my decor so much but I have always loved it. I love blue as well. I have red accents in my den – due to my University of Georgia (bulldog) background. Well, there you have it – my design take aways. (My Garrett direct quote) Love ❤️ your channel! Lana
Thank you for your inspiration
Interesting tips…
After watching a million of your videos I finally subscribed. I’ve learned a lot from you so far! As a fellow dog lover, I think every home needs a cuddle spot that fits all the dogs (or whatever pets live there) Nothing I love more than piling onto my comfy chair with my dogs and a book. The space is right next to our fireplace and also features some original art and a Norfolk pine tree for maximum chill vibes. It’s my happy place!
A decorating idea people overlook… battery operated lights and candles. I love coming home to a warmly lit space. It feels like me apartment is welcoming me home. And they usually have timers so can set them to come on right before you get home.
Garrett, thank you for this video as you have me thinking about additional things.
Thank you for another great video. I think original art is often missing. I always like to see original art in someone's home. It adds interest and is always a conversation starter. Happy holidays to you, your husband, and the furbabies Looking forward to your next video. 🐶🙂
I don't think I have ever heard anyone comment on the importance and functional use of smaller pieces so concisely. When you know you are going to move, say military life or other reasons – smaller pieces are so much more manageable and damage less easily. You don't face the issue of will it fit where I am moving to. I have a small apartments and having smaller pieces not only add to functionality but make for easier cleaning. Furniture that slides easily and wheeled furniture (that don't look cheap) are super space friendly.
Excellent video ! You’re wonderful at pointing out and discussing the details of design.
I really do appreciate your channel Garrett. Just lots of positivity and kindness- so many Youtubers make a career out of criticising everyone and everything. Happy Christmas 🙂
Excellent video! Congrats and thank you.
Happy Christmas! Love the video!
Great, thank you!!
Merry Merry Christmas my dear Garrett.
Thank you for the knowledge.
It’s been a wonderful journey to know a good human like you.
Wishing you the most blessed season of holidays with your loved ones. May love, luck, health and prosperity is always with you.
Thank you so much for bringing so much joy into my life as a human first and of course as a designer, blessed!!
Now to your query : I feel the one design idea everyone should incorporate is having enough place to sit in a living room, basically easy pull on chairs from dining area to small tucked away ottomans to a bench by window, all these can be pulled in when you have a bit large gathering than usual. I feel bit uncomfortable when there are just 2 couches opposite to each other and people end up sitting on the arms as no one will sit in a row on a single couch even if you are a family. I hope am making sense😬
You have beautiful lovely time with your near and dear ones.
Love love and love sending your way!!

Oh Wow another really excellent & interesting video Loved it all ❤ thanks so much & it am so happy to see the channel growing 💪🏻🙏 have a fab Xmas 🎅 🎄🐶
Really enjoyed the content Garrett! You always give common sense design ideas and don't shy away from using color! My motto is go bold or go home. That is what I see missing from many homes. Color brings life and personality into a home. So I would suggest to anyone to at least bring in some colorful original art into your home… Some of mine I created are in our bedroom as some people may find them odd. My art teacher/mentor loved it. It a live model session–I painted a nude female reclining, but I did it in a more abstract manner and used bold reds, burgandy, and golds, deep purple, cream, skin tones etc. People seemed to like it. He told me it was reminiscent of an old master painter… Tool about 2 1/2 hrs. To paint as it was one session.. I keep her in the bedroom. 🤣 My other more traditional landscapes, etc. I can put those anywhere. As long as we enjoy it then it works for you… We also purchase original art from local artists. Use handmade items from relatives–afghans, etc. Happy Holidays to you and your hubby and your four legged family! 🐶 ☃️🎄
Ultimate design detail for a home – a fur baby! Wishing u & all your family inc the four legged members a very Merry Christmas & thank you so much for your videos, absolutely love watching. 🐶
Another great video. Your discussion of why rooms work for you is a great help in planning my own new space. Another thing I like about the bedroom sconce to headboard to table to mattress is that it visually 'carries' you to the bed, which feels like it encourages me to lie down and relax. I'm totally stealing this arrangement! I LOVE the tulips! Such a pretty pop of color, it makes the creams and whites more restful somehow. Or that's just my ADHD talking. 😄I did have a question, though. What makes that mustard yellow work so well with that teal? Is it that they're both deep, warm hues? Is it position on the color wheel? I'd never, ever think they would work together. EDIT: Sorry, I know it's Christmas eve and you have lots of holiday stuff. But hopefully someone else can answer!
❤️
Hello Garrett! I’ve just subscribed! Merry Christmas to you and your husband and your pups! Tracey, from Ottawa 🇨🇦
Thank You Garrett. 💖Really enjoy your content and it's so helpful. Seasons Greetings from uk.🎄
Thank you for another great video! 👍
Happy holidays! 🎅🎄🐶🐶🐶🎄🎅🎊
Love all your videos but this one seemed to jive better with European style and taste which I really appreciate. The switches next to the bed have been around and used for sometime now. In my new build I am having added USB ports too. Also on the kitchen counter switches. Yes to easily movable furniture and double duty spaces! Our smaller European homes must multitask. My living dining area will host 16 on Christmas Day. My table opens up to exaggerated lengths and living area will easily be squeezed to accommodate. Hope you your family and your doggies all have a serene and blessed Christmas 🎄.
Once again some sound advice. Thank you.
I think every place needs some plants.
Garrett is the real deal no BS just gems week on week
Happy Holidays, Garrett!
This is a really great video ❤
Thank you…great video. Have a wonderful holiday…
I love your design advice!🖤 I think many homes are missing crown molding especially in the living & doing rooms 👑
Every home needs some colour pop thats what iv learnt
Great video! I’m learning so much that I’m not finding on many other decorating oriented channels. Stunning visual with your neutral background, sky blue sweater, pink flowers in silver vase. A subtle lesson in color theory. Love it! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼😃
Awesome Garrett as usual! I think every space needs some little unexpected interesting something. Just to cause surprise and provoking thought.
As usual great advice Garrett! Tonnes of take away from this well thought- through video!
I love that antique vanity, but antique items with mirrors creep me out for some reason! Lol I watch too much horror movies!😂
"Garrett, that's a mansion and I don't live in one of those!" Having a 10 x 10 space in my LR would take up the entire wall! O.K., most of it. My LR/DR is 11 x 16. Still, I've taken so many ideas from larger spaces and resized them to fit my tiny space.
Fireplaces whether they are wood burning, gas or other type of fuels need to be in all homes living spaces. My favorite is the Mid Century Modern Swedish fireplace. Find an old episode of Mod Squad that shows "Pete's" beach house.
Garrett, this video makes me imagine you teaching a design course somewhere, because you do such an excellent job of teaching US more about our spaces and how to curate them! The pink tulips, info on drapes, how to decorate the bookcases, and movable furniture were highlights for me! I have lofted ceilings everywhere, so I think about layering levels in every room. In addition to style and color, I think a lot about the mood or feel I want to evoke, and I put out pieces & accessories that help create that. Right now, it's a wintery wonderland, of course! Wishing you and yours the happiest of holidays, dear Garrett!!! ❄🎄🎅 Colleen
This is one of my favourite videos from you.
Love these videos where you analyse why the space works or how to make a space more functional and beautiful ❤
I think every home needs at least one piece of original art, preferably more than one, but at least one.
Also, apparently I am a bit OCD as I kept getting distracted by the slight "lean" of the silver vase. Why is it leaning?
Merry Christmas!!!!!Garrett…..🎄🎄🎄🎄
Garrett, wishing you and your husband and your fur babies a very Merry Christmas
