This is our longest, most challenging project on the farm to date. John takes it upon himself to grow a lawn for our children, all without any help from big machinery beyond the first plough of a tractor. This could be a controversial story, and you may or may not agree with our choices, but this is how we envisage a place for our family to grow and we’re delighted to have you along for the journey with us.

BE BRAVE – THINK BIG – EXPLORE
Because we believe that lines across a map are more important than numbers in the bank.
Thanks so much for watching!!!

I think grass should be planted in the late fall or winter. Basically, you should plant when seeds would naturally drop.
what would eat the weeds and help with the bugs. Great to put your kids play as a priority. Love this.
Your way is the only way to do it everybody has to start somewhere for that beautiful green grass great job you're doing good love your videos
Nice job! You have to learn to live with some weeds. We live on 7 acr. and it's impossible entirely remove it from your lawn. But when you mow it you can't even see the difference. Nature always wins.
Kiss The Ground? Did you or did you not buy this farm (which should be productive) for humans. It seems to me its the untamed and uncared for lands that run riot over nature. The rodents and insects have all the forestry areas to dwell in. Remember mother nature is unpredictable and can kill. Fire is even mother nature. Don't be afraid to enjoy your wonderful life!
We need to be good stewards of the land.
💙God bless💖 you💛
Absolutely Love your channel. 🙂 My husband and l have a 13 acre plot and the pasture was covered in brambles. But over a period of time of mowing it we have a beautiful lawn. So don't worry about pulling weeds and giving you excess work. Just keeping seeding and watering soon you will be mowing your beautiful lawn. Blessings to you all🥰.
Well done John your dedication to growing your lawn is second to none keep up the good work .
Greetings from Hot and humid Boston. Just came to say I’ve been watching since you started in Africa and have watched every Sunday happily. Kudos on your storytelling (I’m a filmmaker and editor) and just love watching your gorgeous farm blossom. It’s truly a gem and I’m so glad you are so careful with how you are developing it. Wish I could do the same, but I’m a single mama 😍😍 can’t wait to see what’s next…
If you are going to grow veg for your family…..let alone market garden there has to be some controlling of the wild vegetation going on.
28.48 so adorable!
Sometimes, it is all about the trail and error. Have weeded many fields. After tilling we would sift the soil with a large sand sifter for the roots. And have a wheelbarrow to dump the weeds and then of course burn the pile.
The best part, is your baby being a baby, building his immune system.
Thanks for sharing.
Crusoe, soaking John at the end 😂😂😂
You gotta have a lawn for football, sunbathing, group gatherings… you’ve done a great job, as always!
Are you both useless at ANYTHING??? 👌🏼
Where are you originally from? Just started following recently. Enjoy watching your family. Looking forward to seeing everything you do to your farm.
Such an encouragement in all you are doing! thank you for sharing your journey! big thumbs up and noted not to buy the bamboo – I already made the mistake with virginia creeper !! Look forward to next time x
John. you are soo tenacious…so hardworking. Your love and work ethic for your family is off the scale.
Tara…I'ts amazballs how much you are putting into your family life.
Crusoe…keep on doing watcha doing…you are such an entertaining little button. xxx
Unless you have a panda……….😂😂😂😂😂😂 more great work. Loving the transformation. Such a hard working family.
Your rotatiller will have only gone to a maximum of about 6 inches – a far cry from a deep ploughing, so the majority of your soil structure is completely unaffected. In the greater scheme of things you've not done a lot of harm to your soil!
😃🖐 love the pool you made, didn't see a hole or drain at the or bottom but never the less that's awesome and perfect place, under a tree.😁 The play ground is a great idea, put please burn the roots, tossing them in the trees/ bushes will start that cycle as over again🤥 but you all are doing great and looking forward to more new projects 👍
Good job and hang in there!!! It's a slower economic way that I'm doing myself right now. It'll just take lots of work, but worth it in the end😉😉
This channel is ‘food for the soul’ I love it 🌻
Well done to both of you never follow the normal you are wonderful as you are xxx
❤️❤️❤️
Love you guys and watching your adventures! Can't wait to meet the new Newby when he/she arrives!
Thanks for your vid 😇💟💟💟 Love you guys, when summer is over it will all come good with your grass.
There is some products out there for your lawns that fertilize the grass while killing all the weeds.
I think you guys are not stupid for beginners. I think you made for the land and once you learn few more things you'll master this property's needs and your potential there.
If you can get some white sand plant grass seeds on those bare areas and then put a layer of white sand over it. The grass will grow there just water every night. The white sand will protect the seeds from blowing away.
