14. The END of our OFF GRID Journey (1 year later)

We moved to our land 1.5 years ago with the idea in mind to be as self sufficient as we possibly could. During this time we have built a Cabin to have shelter for under 5000 dollars. A food garden from where we now eat everyday. An off grid solar system in a temporary location to produce our own clean electricity. And now we are building The Workshop,
a multifunctional building that will finalize the solar system set up completely, putting the panels up high to avoid shadows and on a proper inclination for winter when solar exposure is the lowest.

This building is also going to work as a greenhouse so we can still grow food during winter, as a ceramic workshop for Eugenia and a wood one for me, it will also have the washing machine, extra storage space, and maybe in the future we will finish it up a as guest house for volunteers that want to stay with us and help build our project.

Today, we complete a full circle, finishing the off grid solar system up completely after months of planning, designing and building.

  2. very good channel. you are inspiring. I personally prefer episodes under 15 minutes. Im not native English spoken so have a little problem with your accent. I think it would be better for your channel to try American accent. peace.

  3. Great video! I really like your approach – treating solar panels like a building material, not as an add-on appliance. I was thinking about building a roof over the terrace using solar panels as the ONLY cover. Do you think that putting a rubber seal between the panels and tightening it up would be waterproof? I mean – it's over the terrace, so a bit of water won't do any damage, but still – I don't want it to drip into my coffee 😀

  4. Wow! It’s incredible to have had access to be on this journey with you both. Congratulations on tell your story beautifully and the pristine editing job and very evocative choices of music. 🙏

  5. Wow! The new studio is looking really GOOD! 😁 Loved the longer format. Soooo glad that little Lolita did not attempt to hop on the new roof!😮😸😻

  6. Hola Pepe y Eugenia, por favor queremos la receta de ese asopado tan rico que preparó Eugenia y que dejarin limpio el plato y el pulgar levantado en señal de "muy bueno" 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

  7. We have a friend with a cat that chases insects that happen to fly out of the window A FEW TIMES!! the cat jumped out A FEW TIMES from the FORTH FLOOR !!!! She's perfectly fine. Still got some lives left maybe.

  8. Such an amazing episode as usual, with beautiful filming and editing. Wow, it was very exciting to see the solar panels in place and I can't wait to see the new workshop finished!

  9. Interesting video. I have a conventional house that is paid for here in SE US and retired. Put up a greenhouse and thought about a solar panel for it to run misters. Panel was only going to be $100, but for rest of support equipment was going to push total cost to over $350. Cheaper for me to run extension cord to it. Would never recover the costs for solar in my remaining life. You would have to replace batteries every several years to add to costs ! Will be interesting to see what happens with your home in 5, 10, 20 years and if you have kids whether that changes things.
