Hi, I own a house near Benfeita way out in the countryside. I have a fossa for black water (it's a hole in the ground with rocks in, if you're lucky) even that has an access lid. If you do have a septic tank, it will have a lid on it because it will need emptying sometime? I would look in that patch of greenery for a lid. Let's face it, something in there is nutritious and it's leaking out.

I would try to use sound to locate the pipe. Put a speaker or let someone shout into the pipe and maybe you can hear it under ground. Just in Idea, don't know if it will work

Given how many people are living in there now, and the problem with the pipe,might be worth to buy a dishwasher, I think it would be worth the effort and time saved. Also, you wouldn't need to let it dry on the shower. 😁

Hi Jasper, I would suggest sticking to Chlorine because when you drain it is not harmful to your garden. The salt water will kill everything, so unless you need lots oh weed control.

I think the sun eats up the chlorine and the vinyl liner probably doesn't hold up well to chlorine with no agitation(brushing)?. Maybe put chlorine in after sun is off the water.

Jasper. Start digging FROM THE SEPTIC then work backwards. Otherwise you could be digging the entire yard.

Why not put a peremptory sink outside to do the dishes and use the water from that to water something. It shouldn't be hard to set up something. Plus their are other health reasons.

Hoi Jasper ik heb laatst mijn zwembadfilter in Witte Dasty voor de WC gedaan in een klein emmertje. Een flinke scheut in het water en 24 uur laten weken. Daarna afgekuist en afgespoelt. Daarna nog eens in de Witte Dasty. Werkt net zo goed als de erg dure filterreiniger van intex. En handig als je wat reserve filters achter de hand hebt. Zeker omdat je met meerdere mensen gebruik maakt van het zwembad.

Jasper, you need to get one thing at a time sorted instead of going to another job all the time, get digging and find the pipe from the drain, it could be deeper or if that was concrete you found it could be in that, there isn't always an easy way out, sometimes you have to get stuck in until it's sorted out

You should be able to rinse out the filter a few times before replacing.

Efficiently and cheaply with pipes and materials you can find in portugal.

Jasper you need to stop washing greasy plates etc in the wash basin. Get a washing up bowl and empty it on the land, not down the septic tank.

Water treatment for the swimming pool : first in general the water from wells in Portugal are very acid ( in my well water PH is around 5…) you need to correct the PH with PH+ solution; for the cloro and others solutions to work the water PH must be between 7.2 and 7.8 ; second the water is too dirt with algaes you need 3 solutions: Rapid or Cloro Chock ( in a 2000 liters pool it only need between 10 to 15 grams) Algicide solution ( 2000 liters / 50 ml) and Flocculant then after a few hours all the dirt goes to the bottoms BUT then you need to aspire it….with a proper aspiration tool ….best solution is a to have a good sand filter ( intex has one that costs 140 euros and is great – INTEX 26644 ) I have one that costs around the same 130 euros GRE FAQ200 Aqualoon / 4000 liters hour… and it's the best acquisition that i have made for my pool always crystalline waters….without treatment and filtering you need to change all the water every 2 weeks….

You need a skimmer to take the bugs and stuff floating in the water out of the pool. It’s manual work that must be done but helps to keep the water much cleaner. It’s like a screen on a pole.

Salt pools need an electro-catalytic device to separate the chlorine from the salt. Might be cheaper to just use regular chlorine tablets in a little plastic floater. I admire your ability to work in the heat.
