Walking tour of Ericeira, Portugal, with detailed historical information and context, as well as immersive ambient sounds. Ericeira, located 50 km (31 miles) northwest of Lisbon, is considered the surfing capital of Europe and one of only five World Surfing Reserves on the planet.

Perched on cliffs overlooking the Atlantic, the charming (former) fishing town of Ericeira, with its pretty narrow streets and colorful houses, metamorphoses into a lively holiday resort during the summer months, with numerous cafes, restaurants and bars opening up alongside its long, sandy beaches.

Ericeira was also the scene of an important moment in Portugal’s long and chequered history, which I’ll tell in detail.
