São João Beach is a really nice beach with great sand, tons of areas to sit in the shade, and restaurants and bars nearby. The water was clear and cold and all sandy even in the water.
If staying in Lisbon it is definitely worth the ferry across the river to come here (an experience in itself), it is a vast sandy beach with some restaurants at points along the side, a 30-minute walk from the ferry at Trafaria yet you can just get an Uber. I think it is much better than beaches closer to Lisbon
