  1. Regarding posture. Strengthen your back. Get a Sport Cord, or its equivalent, stick it in a door frame and do some rows (learn proper technique). Also lay on a foam roller and stretch your arms out (make your body into the letter t) to stretch the muscles in your chest. All that computer and phone work will tighten up the front side of your body and cause the front side of your body to curl up like a cooked shrimp. You need to stretch the front part while strengthening the opposing muscles in your back.

I'm wondering if prices in Portugal are going to start to drop over the next 6-12 months impacted by: ECB increasing rates in July and September, recent court changes prohibiting short term rental in residential buildings, and the recent suspension of the golden visa (not sure if this is temporary). Anyway if you notice any glaring changes in the real estate market later in the year please comment. Here in the US the Fed has made enough policy changes recently to cause mortgage rates to jump over 200 basis points. Its crushed mortgage demand but home prices have not moved, yet. The ECB and other central banks seem to be following us in response to inflation but are not yet as far along.

  2. Excellent comments and tips Luiza! 👍🏻 You’ve basically confirmed that when we relocate to PT (not sure when 🤷) it is our intention is to rent (or buy) an apartment (or home) with: (1) an extra bedroom—this is essential so I can concentrate on my hobbies and volunteer work, (2) high energy efficiency—since my spouse tends to always be cold 🥶 and (3) a terrace or balcony to enjoy the sun and outside living which PT offers ⛱. Finally, we fully intend to use a Buyer’s Agent to assist us—as you suggest. If we relocate to the Algarve—we’ll definitely contact you for a reference. ✅ All the best to you and Flavius. 👋🏻

  3. Very helpful and realistic video. Good to have the experience of someone who has done it. Thanks for being honest about the level of difficulty involved in doing renovations or upgrades in Portugal. So many people just say it’s no problem…it’s so easy…it’s so cheap. Then you find out, your very inexpensive property purchase will cost you 10x purchase price to upgrade.
