5 Ways They’re Gaslighting Black Women About Moving Abroad 🙅🏾‍♀️ | If you’re a Black woman and you tell someone you want to leave the United States and move to a new country, you might very well hear one of these responses. Especially if you want to move to Mexico or Portugal or Costa Rica as an expat. They start throwing the “American Dream” talk at you but diss Portugal for its role in the slave trade. Make it make sense?? 📌 RESOURCES MENTIONED IN THIS VIDEO:

  1. Way #6: Trying to convince you you can't feel that sense of freedom equally in Ghana AND Mexico, Sweden AND South Africa ⛓️🔗

Great content. You are putting yourself out there and taking the slack and criticism for those of us with similar experiences who hate social media 😂😂.

    You are a leader

  2. If you mad about countries role in the slave trade the African continent is no different, whether West, East, South or North. I’ve been and I will tell you half like AA the other half do not and will treat people of a different race MUCH better than you regardless of your American passport. The same spirit that sold our ancestors into slavery is still very much alive and well on the continent.

  3. I support Black American women's freedom to live the expat life. Trust me, I totally understand. It's one of the things I'm very close to doing myself. Even though this video was not for Brothers, it would still make me a hypocrite to not defend our Sistahs' right to explore their options. So make that journey!

  4. When people say you're being "elitist" is another way of gaslighting. It stems from colonization/ slavery. It's others thinking that people of color don't/ shouldn't have or do those things. "It's only for white folks!" It's subconscious assimilation of the belief of "knowing your place".

  5. Ain't nothing wrong with hiring a housecleaner! I have one in the US and I will eat rice and beans all month before I give that up. When we were in Mexico we had a housecleaner, laundry lady, and personal trainer. It's common in other countries to hire help! Folx just want black women to be tired! Hiring help is a game changer.

  6. The people that are gaslighting they are jealous and in fear. Some people don’t want us to thrive and be happy.

They want us to be miserable, misery love company.

If we don’t travel, we will always stay misinformed.

    Travel!

  7. I lived in Alaska for 10 years (1998-2008) and there are many retired military living in Fairbanks and Anchorage . Many are from the South and relish in the ability to live anywhere that you can afford. Likewise there are Afro-colonies in Cheyenne WY and Albuquerque. Smaller colonies in Great Falls MT and Minot ND and essentially any place that there is a base.

  8. Tru dat; we built this country. HOWEVER, just like in a bad marriage, it doesn’t mean you have to stay in a bad relationship simply because you have given it your heart and soul. Your one earthly life must be lived on your terms with your best interest at heart! No do overs!

  9. NO TO LIVING IN Puerto Rico. Hurricane territory. Hurricane FIONA, just knocked out power on the entire island today! No to living in exotic Dover, Delaware, too. Nope. I adore sunny, warm climates for living……………….. Central America is my sweet spot

  10. I recently lost both my parents and part of my new journey is finally moving abroad. I was given so much negative commentary about moving out of state let alone as an expat! I have been on mental health sabbatical for a year and this was the best decision I have ever made.❤

  11. Virginia has “Sons of Confederate Veterans” license plates! I don’t think there is another country that’s as racist towards their own citizens as the US, and certainly not where racism is as deadly :-/

  12. LOL 😆🤣😂!!! You are my girl. Thats our motto to do as less as possible. Time out for that shit!! All this dam work work work.. Agree with you if I did not need money I wouldn't do anything at all!! Keep the videos coming honey. Love your channel.

  13. JUST SHARING, singer, Dionne Warwick relocated to Brazil and her house was robbed, housekeeper was kidnapped or injured while she was away, I read. STAY SAFE OUT THERE. Dionne Warwick is now living in the USA, again. And, years later, while on a tour, her hotel room was robbed! RACISM IS is alive across the GLOBE. Black women this is a fact.

  14. I’m Jamaican, and it’s the norm for working class, middle class and upper class people to have helpers. My grandparents always had a minimum of 3 people working for them. It’s the norm, not the exception to have helpers.

  15. At the end of the day, it's about poverty mentality. Unenlightened people expect Black Women to pursue a life of poverty and overwork with no help or rest. They balk at the idea that other quite viable options might exist. When we assert that we want more for ourselves, dimwitted people, especially men who have no intention of themselves evolving, interpret that to mean "we don't want YOU."

    Thank goodness smarter people exist!

  16. GOOD MORNING, missed the livestream. Black women are going to need money $$$$$$$ to live abroad, I know because I married a WM, tall, handsome Canadian man years ago. $$$$$$$$ yes, having money help make you live a life of easy. Marriage builds wealth, provided he is the right man. Don't do drugs abroad. I left America to live abroad and never looked back. I left Christianity & churches in 1980s. NO REGRETS. I don't eat pork, junk foods or drink sodas, no regrets. I remarried $$$$$$$ in 1999 in Central America. Boom and boom…………………………………… back from swimming with my tall handsome husband from Central in the cold water lakes, jumping from the houseboat, Ozarks, USA

  17. MISS STEPHANIE PERRY 🤣🤣🥰🥰🥰"get out of my FACE 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤫LOVE IT. I had a rough Day 😞. But Babe 👶 you lifted my spirit with . 1695 Plantation Blvd. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
    Peace and Blessings Always

  18. Stephanie, I just wanted to commend on the job you're doing. I've actually turned friends and family on to your channel.
Secondly, I just wanted to say that I didn't want to imply in my comments about Portugal that you shouldn't move there. You should do what makes you happy. I am a very caring and honest person. I follow you because I respect you and what you do. I did live in Portugal and I speak Portuguese, so the only I mentioned that Portugal can be racist, mostly because it's true and I also feel that some of the information about Blacks thriving there, not really true unless you have a salary from the US. As you probably know, the minimum wage in Portugal is very low, so things are going to be cheaper.
Also as an African American, I know what we've been through so if you were my very own blood sister, I would let you know about some of the struggles that Black people in Portugal face. You are right, there is racism everywhere and going somewhere on vacation is not the same as living there.
Having said all of that, I wish you all the happiness in the world because you deserve it. I don't regret my comments, but I do regret the way my comments were interpreted.

  19. CHILE If I had a dollar for every time someone told me these things, now that I've been telling people I want to leave, I'd have the money to leave today. Or they say the grass isn't always greener on the other side. And there are problems in other countries just like America and I can't "run from my problems."

  20. EXACTLY Sister. I been through HELL and back recently the death of my daughter 💕🙏🏾💕. Damn TIRED of everyone and their hating minds. This is MY TIME now.
Love me some Costa Rica, Jamaica and Mexico… exploring others as well.

  21. On the replay here – Hi, Stephanie! When you read the No 2 Gaslight, I had to back up a bit to make sure I heard it correctly: "If everybody can't leave the country, nobody should leave the country". Who would even form their lips to say that??? That has got to be one of the worst, ridiculous, selfish things I have ever heard. I would have rather that person keep that to themselves because it really reveals a lot about their heart condition, and how they hate it when someone is making moves. They can't share in their joy because of jealousy. That's the kind of person who would do everything their power to sabotage your ex-pat journey if it was in their power. It's a shame that you can't uplift and encourage others to try an exciting new path in life without someone else spewing such selfish "logic". Now I really understand why it's so important to move in silence. Please keep those videos coming. We really need them!

  22. So many bad minded folk out here I tell you. Smh. I go where my heart is comfortable. Idc what haters and fearful negative ppl say.

Clarity ppl… Portugal was once a SWARTHY country btw. Do your research…if you know about its ancient history and who the ppl looked like.
Research the origins of Europe. All black people.

  23. I just took a Tony Robbins course, where the instructor said the exact same thing Stephanie. He said, "Why not hire someone that will free up your time to grow your business or spend more time doing the things you want or need.
