  1. One of the ways to at least reduce the flies is to hang a clear bag with water in it from the roof so the sun catches it. Doesnt get rid of them completely, but it helps a lot especially because its easy and cheap. Did it when i was a lifeguard.

  2. Have watched all your vids from the second season after watching the 1st yr in review – great stuff (except for the compost pile), keep them coming! For your fly issue: Big flys scare away small ones so for one week each of you could wear multiple sets of glasses on your face and instal translucent wings on your backs, that should scare them away. If it doesn’t work at least you will have had a good Halloween costume. Good luck

  3. Gotta say, I have been following you all for about 1,5 years for now, and Javier's editing has leveled up the video quality! Even though Javies might not be filming everyone, his way of editing is quite pleasing to the eye and ear. I'm REALLY looking into applying for video support next year, and I feel like the way of editing that Javier applies, and your general way of living really attracts me a lot. Hope to get in touch once you are looking to expand your video team again! Until then, good luck from you all and kind regards from The Netherlands!

  4. Flies: we have them too.
What I do is the moment I see the first fly outside I put up fly traps. These are small containers filled with water and a small bit of meat or something that can go off, and one way lids.
They really do make a big difference.

  5. For mosquitoes, use Citronella! Mosquitoes lay eggs on water, so probably the lake is the current challenge for you. The lake should have life in it! Like frogs and fish. You can plant Citronella all over the camp and also make homemade repellent with alcohol and a spray bottle. 😉

  6. About the compost part
Do u know what "vegetable stock" is???
Basically u can use the "vegetables trash" to take the flavor and nutrients (vegetable skin too), and then u can put the veggies on the compost "bin" too
Basically u boil the veggies craps in water for some time, and done, delicious ramen base write there
U can use animal parts to, like bones and cartilage to use the most from everything

  7. I've been watching some of the first videos, the changes are impressive, I loved the neighbour interviews. Fantastic. When you think you haven't gone far it's worth looking back to see how far you have come .

  8. contents are really good. i was so engrosed that i completed all videos in 3 days .. i suggestion i have which might help with you heating gas problem is setting up your own bio gas production. it might be tedious at start but once stable it will help in cutting down the cost of gas for heating water. now you might have seasonal effects or adaptations that might be required.

  9. Maybe a fly trap? Dead fish leftovers and guts, on a bottle. You cut the upper part of the bottle, flip it over and glue it like that with tape inside the bottom part. Fill the inside first, with water and the fish guts and put it somewhere not so close , but not so far. Thousands of flies will get stuck in it.

  10. Awesome content guys. What about using one of those bio converters that make metane from your kitchen compost and humanwaste?that would solve the bying gas issue and be more sustainable?
