#7 10 Tips for buying Land in Portugal – Our land search part 2

Hi friends!

Please bear with me as I am still not very comfortable speaking in front of the camera, but I really wanted to share with you my tips for buying land in Portugal! This is part n.2 of Our search for Land in Portugal. If you haven’t watched part n.1 click here:

Who are we?

We are Fenia, Adam and Odin and we are searching for land in Portugal to start our little farm.

We are planning to install greywater systems, raise happy animals, be self-sufficient in electricity and water, plant food forests, build eco-structures like cob houses and treehouses, and much more. Our biggest goal is to have our own bakery on the land and serve farm-to-table meals.

We have been exploring most of Portugal with our caravan during the summer and we decided to rent a place to stay warm and dry during the winter! Traveling alone with a toddler (and a young dog!) might seem pretty crazy, and it is indeed very challenging, but for me, it was the only way to make sure I find a place that suits our needs and head towards self-sufficiency!

I think that documenting our journey from looking for a place until reaching our self-sufficiency goals can be interesting and inspiring, especially to fellow mommies! Becoming mothers doesn’t mean we have to sacrifice our dreams and live a “regular life”. You can achieve anything you set your mind to, even if you have (young) kids!

  1. Hi, have you spoken to Luis Baptista Portugal Real Estate. He is on YouTube. He sells some really nice properties around Castello Branco. All budgets. He seems to be very honest and also knows what the rules are about the places he sells.
    Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺

  2. I realise that you may not feel comfortable naming those agents who have defrauded people of their money. It is as well to know about this, I shall need to do research into which agents to avoid. Thank you.

  3. Another thing to add to the awareness list is fencing and boundaries. Apparently if the farm doesn’t have it, hunters can use your property, livestock can wander on to your property etc. Not sure exactly how those rules are but worth exploring.
Best of luck finding a suitable place👍
