7 GOOD Reasons Why We Moved to Portugal | Country Living

At the end of 2020, we moved to Portugal.
We share 7 reasons why we relocated from busy England to a rural Central Portugal.

Six months later, we bought an abandoned property with 1.75 acres of land and a stone house to restore.

We’re Meraid and Dan, and we love growing things. We’re restoring the terraced land and using as many materials that are already on the land.

If you’re thinking of moving to rural Central Portugal, then hop on to our channel and see what goes on.

  1. Beautiful video – the best reasons, gorgeous views. Could only be bettered by including if/when you can visuals of your smiling kind neighbors, your fave locales (restaurants, cafes, markets, food, vistas) to accentuate those reasons. Great job, you two 🤗.

  2. Evening Guys, another interesting and successful video, well done.
you are now our favourite Portuguese channel. we have a truck similar to you, although yours in even older and cooler than ours!!
we've taken inspiration from you and hope that our garden/horta will one day be as good as yours.
keep up the great work, much appreciation Elaine and Darren, also now in Central Portugal

  3. Hi guys. Lovely video. Just found your channel. We are in process of moving to Portugal, the Castelo Branco region. My husband like you, is from Western Ireland, Coleraine, I South African, but we live in Coleraine. We will be offgriders. So looking forward, hope to be there in late January. To me the whole country reminds me of South Africa. We spent 3 months there beginning of this year to feel the country out, and I felt home. You don’t say in what region you live, but looks central. Keep the videos coming. So enjoyable, and of course advice so helpful. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

  4. So glad I found your channel and am so excited to be following your journey. Your videos have an air of innocence and beauty, sharing with us your real lives. Hope your well is filling up now. Yeah I binge watched your videos when I found you a few weeks ago, glad I did and an well and truly hooked now. Take care, Poo

  5. What a wonderful video, loved every moment. I love listening to your voice and you speak so clearly, so much better than most of theNewbies living in Portugal. You were doing such a great job on your gardens. Can’t wait for more.

  6. Portugal was once such a powerful country, it was perhaps the major force in discovering the world by sea, but after the earthquake of 1855, slowly lost its status on the world stage. I live in Canada and most people in North America don't even know where Portugal is on the map, sad !!!!! Your video made me cry of how you describe the Portuguese people, they are a lovely Happy bunch, and I can hardly wait to return. I also agree with you about the prices of property, here in Canada the prices of housing are just insane, if I was to buy my house "today" I could not afford it, but thank God , to of my Portuguese background/way of thinking it is paid off.

  7. Ok, I'm convinced – you've sold it to me hook, line and sinker. It does look amazing and what you are achieving there is inspirational. What would be interesting to know is how you went about finding the property and what drew you to the area where you settled. Really enjoying your channel! 😀

  8. Excellent reasons, that i alreadt have on my list of why I want to retire early to Portugal. Your stories about the kindness of the people really warms my heart. Beautiful, just simply beautiful

  9. Wise decision! I adore the Datsun. I used to live in a desert area. You actually love the rain and appreciate it! Can't wait for the next episode, you crazy kids! x from Tennessee.

  10. Are you going to restore the house the same as it is with Chappell and all, or are you making changes. Will you do it yourself or contract it out and concentrate on the food.

  11. Love your videos. I am so envious of the growth of fruit, flowers and vegetables where you live. Here on the east coast of Yorkshire (two miles from the North Sea), there is not the growth, apart from weeds! I had a Portuguese vet, and he was wonderful. Are you going to get any livestock? Best wishes, Susan.
