Hi there! I am Joseph.
I have been an immigrant / expat living in central Portugal along with my beautiful girlfriend Mariana for six years now.
Together Mariana, my father Clinton and myself, would like to show you a bit of the daily goings on around our Portuguese farm / homestead / smallholding and all of the work we are doing whilst renovating, starting building projects, working with our livestock, DIY and trying to grow our little families own food!
In this episode we welcome you to join us in late Summertime as we are given a tour around our friends farmhouse, which is for sale, in a rural mountain village in central Portugal.
We start the virtual tour by introducing ourselves on a beautiful private track leading down to the farm as we explain the location of this wonderful gem of a farm and a little about the surroundings and local amenities.
We begin by walking up the long private shingle track, which gives fantastic access to the farm. Then we step onto the property itself, the first thing we see as we look around is electricity posts connecting to this farm, then we walk down towards the little building on the land. It is a 28m2 building made from breeze block. It can be increased in size though to make it a larger building if needed.
Mariana and I both walk inside the little building and take a look around at all of the old tools and instruments for agriculture. There are lots of signs that this place once had a lot of life in it, I hope this comes back to this beautiful place.
After the building we walk past the olive grove, which has a few hundred olive trees, some new, some mature. Then we see the large irrigation pond, along with an army of frogs jumping into it. The water level is still high compared to a lot of farms I have seen in the area and after the drought which we have been having means that this pond never runs dry.
Following the channel that has been dug down from the pond you can see a large irrigation pipe, with a wheel tap. This used to irrigate the owner’s vegetable patch.
There are numerous healthy, young fruit trees planted alongside the pond, including but not limited to orange, tangerine, lemon, cherry, apple, pear, fig & more!
As we walk down the western fence line, we can see the extent of the vineyard, it is large and has a lot of healthy mature vines, this would produce a good few hundred litres of wine every year!
I wish you all a very pleasant week ahead and I hope to see you all in the next one! Bye bye for now!
See our journey to self-sufficiency / permaculture / organic farming living in Portugal, trying to produce as much of our own food planting vegetables, growing fruit trees as well as looking after all our animals, such as our chickens, turkeys, geese, ducks, quail, rabbits and sheep – Shortly pigs too!

Hi Joseph, Mariana and baby Chloe. Such a beautiful property
Bargain farm! like you say Joseph;; with loads of potential. Think this will soon go. We hope to move to Portugal next year, something like this would be what we will be looking for. Thank you for sharing Joseph and Mariana 🙂
I think you should put compass in your drone shot. I mean North south etc
Hello, nice video, was wondering, this building is not pre 1951, is it still legal to live in as you were saying that it can be extended. Tnx.
is that building registered?
A nice video as usual. The farm is lovely and the price is reasonable. Thank you Joseph and Mariana for the quality content. I really love your videos. ❤️
Joseph, please read your email @ outlook. Thanks, Donna
Lovely vlog. thank you. I think you must just check on that last sheep who arrived that was not interested in eating an apple. That sheep came over as a bit stressed? Maybe it's the hormones starting to work for the first time? Being a young sheep? But please, that one needs to be checked out? I love your sheep. they are full of character. You have the most beautiful farm.
Great video beautiful place hello from California USA
Fabulous prospect for farming. Very useable land. Just need a house nearby. 😊
Very nice the addition of the map on the video. Very enjoyable video as always. Congrats Jo and Ma.
♥️👍🏻👌💖
Great property, can I ask Joseph, what is the status of the building, habitation wise? Mariana, you always look lovely, but today you look particularly lovely. Xx
THis property is just the right size to allow a gardener to be somewhat self-sufficient. Enough of a full time job for two people. But I guess there are building restrictions.
Can you build the house to live in?
Looks good from here
Joseph I've never seen Mariana looking so beautiful. Motherhood certainly looks good on her..
Loved the farm just not sure you could legally live there ?
oppaaa another amazing video… Thanks Joe and Mari !!
And must say Mariana is glowing looking very pretty. Lots of frogs means lovely clean water that’s very good to see . That’s the kind of farm I put an offer on and my offer was accepted and then a week later they change their mind and put the price up no I didn’t go back with another offer. I will be back next week to have a chat with my lawyer and sort out some paperwork and then on the hunt again for more land Take care lovely to see you both thank you for sharing
Great channel! 👍
Lovely house? Realy? You are a good seller😁 but the farm is very nice for the price.
