Did cleaning the well pay off?

We are still experiencing a drought here in Portugal, and we’re getting very low on water. After one spurt of rain, how are the wells doing?

New here? My name is Lea and I live with my partner Maarten, our toddler Puck and baby Bo on our land in Central Portugal. We left the rat race in the Netherlands in 2018 and moved south in our old campervan. Two years ago we bought land in Portugal that had been abandoned for several decades. After lots of hard work we now live in a beautiful yurt and keep ourselves busy growing our own vegetables as well as producing olive oil, wine and honey on a small scale. This channel documents all the different jobs we have to do, and sometimes some nice footage of this beautiful country we now call home.

  1. Hello Maarten, WD 40 is no lubricant, it`s for cleaning, better use Caramba and there is a special nut for injectors with a gap for the pipe. It`s way easier with this nut. Greetings from Hamburg

  2. I was a mechanic's helper with my father…even though I was a girl. I miss those days. So satisfying to repair things with your own hands. And, I enjoyed the Monte Python reference. 😉

  3. The YouTube channel Land to House talks a lot about ram pumps which are cheaply made and don’t require electricity to pump uphill against a grade. You might enjoy their channel.

  4. Yes, your well lools super healthy after its clean out. Maybe it'd be helpful to have a telescopic pool net to fish out floating debris? Might help delay having to dig out debris that's settled out the bottom of your well again?

  5. If the machine has been sitting for a while it can be that the fuel has dried up and you want to clean the carburetor and the lines. Drain cleaner (sodium hydroxide) can work, but it eats aluminum. Maybe break cleaner is better suited for the job. Or if you have it an ultrasonic cleaner, that will get all the dirt off the carburetor. Either way, i have books on cars and engines on my archive if you havent seen them yet. It may be just the thing you need (who knows).

    Greetings,

    Jeff
