Ooh, if money was no object, I would get some heat in the basement and finish it – we Americans love our finished basements – and turn that space into a TV room. Then you can have a proper master bathroom (with maybe a rain shower and a spa tub?) by repurposing the upstairs TV room. Pure heaven.

I like the little blue sofa. One thing you might consider to tone down the colour would be to make a little slipcover for it out of a thin white cotton lawn. The colour would show through, but the sheer fabric would bring the brightness down.

Maybe I missed it but is there a washer and dryer? How is the house heated, with gas?

If your new laundry room has access to the garden, and the toilet room there as well, you will find it great for when dirty people (children, dogs, etc) come in from the garden or outdoor activities.
A place to strip all the wet and dirty clothes off before showering and going upstairs clean. Rather than dripping mud over all of your white floors!

probably not the most practical idea, but maybe you can start a coffeeshop business near you
