Welcome to the third episode of Tapestry of Cultures! This series periodically features interviews with interesting individuals living in Portugal and food being central of our connection.
Every individual has a story weaved in Portugal’s multicultural tapestry. This week I get to meet Ploy from Thai Streets PT. I first met Ploy while I was at a friend’s place and we ordered Thai takeaway food from her. I was very impressed with her food and I just had to meet Ploy!
I was quite surprised that Ploy has never had Massaman curry and I decided to make it from an 1890 cookbook recipe. Join me as I chat with Ploy on her impressions of Portugal, her passion on presenting good Thai food in Portugal, and her hopes and dreams.

Hey everyone, I’m Sophian. Originally from Singapore, I am currently based in Lisbon, Portugal. Over the years, I have lived in several cities and countries included Bali, Bangkok, Dubai, Sydney, Scotland, and San Francisco.
I have always been in the arts and enjoy being the creative arena as well as my life-long love affair with food. I enjoy foods from various cultures as much as enjoy cooking. Living overseas allows me to appreciate my heritage and culture and I reconnect through cooking.
Everyone has a story to tell. My vlogs are about my life in Lisbon, Portugal (the good, the challenges, and the wonderful bits) and exploring the region. I will be sharing some insights and perspectives of this beautiful city and country including cooking when I get that saudade feeling for home. I hope you’ll stick around (:
