It’s time to lay some pipe! After digging our trenches and installing the (temporary) guttering over the last few months we’re ready for the next part of our rainwater harvesting system: underground pipe. These pipes will carry all the rain down the hill and – ultimately – store it in a tank for irrigation. We’ve also got a grey water harvesting system to install but we’ll get to that in due course.

The pipe laying was quite easy but actually pushing them together was a different story. Let’s see what happens…

The Story So Far

My name’s Guy. My wife Kylie and I bought an abandoned stone farmhouse and almost an acre of land in the autumn of 2020 and have been slowly (but surely) restoring it and bringing it back to its former glory. We’re renovating the house (doing most of the work ourselves) and rejuvenating the land and we’re living off grid in a large bell tent while we complete the works with a goal of building a semi-self-sufficient homestead.
