Bordered to the north by the Isna stream, to the south by the Codes stream and to the west by the Zêzere river, the municipality assumes itself as a peninsula, which gives it specific characteristics well expressed in the landscape. The territory is quite mountainous, reaching altitudes close to 600 meters, as is the case of Serra da Melriça, ex-libris municipality for housing the Picoto da Melriça – Geodesic Center of Portugal.
This diversity makes Vila de Rei a perfect destination for tourism and nature sports, hiking and also provides the municipality with fantastic bathing areas, sought after annually by thousands of vacationers.
The Geodesic Center of Portugal, the Schist Village of Água Formosa and the Penedo Furado Walkways are also examples of highly sought after and visited places.
The excellent existing conditions for the practice of TT/BTT sports, water sports such as wakeboarding (where Vila de Rei has one of the five stations of the first wakeboard resort in the world), nature and adventure sports, hiking, and the county has unique natural conditions, as well as a stunning landscape over the Albufeira de Castelo do Bode that bathes numerous trails along about 40 km.
