Theo and Bee gave up their busy city lifestyles in 2014 to explore alternative living, and have lived in vans and boats since then without looking back! Along with their cat Ginjey Bear they have been driving around the world in their self converted Sprinter van. However, when the global pandemic hit they began converting their abandoned stone barn in Central Portugal to turn into a wonderful tiny stone cottage. Along the way, they have rescued a playful cat called Furrnando and have a wonderful flock of Chickens!

  1. How about checking out this YouTube channel ‘Never too small’ for ideas for the stairs. Having a staircase in the middle of the room may posed a problem if and when you have company. On this channel, I saw a featured stairway to a loft that the designed is disguised like a storage/bookcase which I think would work perfectly in your layout.

  2. Hi there 🤗 new sub here from Boston MA ~ look forward to binge-watching more of your past videos in the next few days 👍 lovely home & property…and Fernando! ❤❤❤❤ have a great time in Iceland. {Lisa}

  3. Thanks for answering viewer questions, you both were so lovely to do that. I can already imagine a goat A frame enclosure. What have you planted in the second raised garden bed? Bee, you are such a gentle soul as is Theo and answering those questions about depression is a deeply personal matter. I'm so glad to hear you say that you do take care to have quiet personal time and find gardening and the animals so fulfilling and satisfying. 😉 So I guess a firemen's pole down from the mezzanine is out of the question‼️LOL Have you looked into building a ships ladder? It is such a beautiful design style and in chestnut would be another magnificent piece in your home. Two other thoughts, they do make gas refrigerators, A/C is expensive to buy and run off of solar. A beautiful ceiling fan w/5 blades, to move the air on hot days and nights should keep you comfortable and dry. With your thick stone walls I'd be concerned about creating a mold situation with Acon. A dehumidifier is better than Acon anyway. As I remember both skylights do open to vent the hot air with a ceiling fan. My birthday this year is on Feb 28th & March 1st because 28 + 1 = 29 and that is my actual birth date. Yes, leapyear! I'm turning 17 1/2 this year. So our birthdays are close. As Leaplings, we write our age like this,
    17@70. So Happy Birthday to you in advance 🎉🎊🎉 🍷♥️🇺🇸

  4. Still have not seen or heard that you both have a permit from the goverment of Portugal to change the destination of a barn into a home. And than quickly rent it and flea the country. Hey, it wasn't me who bend the rules.

  5. Hello Bee & Theo, I'm so enjoying this video of Q & A's. You've become like my family far away and I do follow you and the progress on the property. Will the new t-shirts say Barn Life on them? Lol I hope so! Can't wait to follow your adventures in Iceland which is a beautiful lush green world. Today is Feb 25th in Massachusetts USA and I've 7" of fresh snow and the total is expected to be 9"-12" before it's over. Yikes that's way to much winter for this old lady to handle alone. Thank goodness I have two wonderful neighbors who are real gentlemen and take care of the snow shoveling for me. I am truly blessed to have them as my neighbors. They're both single so I cook dinners for them asy way of showing my gratitude for all they do. Do I remember correctly that your Mom & Dad will be coming to stay while you're in Iceland? How nice they must be wonderful parents to come and home and animal sit. 🙏♥️🇺🇸

  6. I just found you site. How lovely to build your own place. What part of Portugal you live in? How many acres you got? And if it is okay with you the price of your property? Thanks and on smiling.

  7. LOVE YOU TWO:). I am 65 and and watch multiple youtubers but you are my absolute fave. I live in the US. Can't wait til you come back here. I love your pets/ family…goats, chick's and cats. I have never responded to a youtube video before. I think this might go thru. Not sure.

  8. I hope you feel free not to talk about your mental health journey Bee. Even if it is highly helpful for others never feel pressed to share beyond what feels comfortable ❤️

  9. It's wonderful watching you guys succeed. But if abnb is brought into the mix, I'm out. W abnb on board everything becomes too commercialized for my taste. Be well! And thank you.

  10. My husband and I watch your wonderful videos with our grandchildren. We are so thankful for the openness and honesty about depression and the ups and downs of life. We loved this video answering alot of things we have wondered and talked about at the dinner table LOL. You are beautiful people and so kind and we wish you safe and wonderful travels to Iceland! Much love from Tennessee US

  11. Great job . It’s all looking very professional. You did comment that many people have written giving their opinion about your central architectural feature- the stairs. I understand why, as there are so many variations on methods of accessing the mezzanine bedroom, admittedly maybe only once or twice a day. When you consider that the stairs will be used about 5 minutes total a day your plan will create them as the permanent major dominant feature of the I room house. Libraries world wide have solved a similar problem requiring access by having a ladder/ stair on wheels that slides along horizontally and can be out of the way most of the time. . That would allow it to be positioned for use to access the bedroom, while able to be slid away to the side when nor actually in use.

  12. Hi, I love your videos and I've followed since the beginning! I wondered if you thought about putting an extra leg in the middle of your new sofa so that it doesn't end up sagging later on?

  13. Great Vlog, thankyou! I did avoid it because I hate the vlogs that just sit staring into the camera and answer questions as they come up on the side panel.. and then thought I would just have a peek! and there you were – answering all the unanswered questions to those of us new to your channel with an interesting format. Have a fabulous trip and thankyou again.
