  1. 🇵🇹 PT: O Castelo de Almourol "nasceu" num afloramento de granito, situado numa ilhota de 310 metros de comprimento por 75 metros de largura a meio do Rio Tejo no concelho de Vila Nova da Barquinha (Santarém). É um dos monumentos mais emblemáticos da Reconquista Cristã.Juntamente com os castelos de Tomar, do Zêzere e da Cardiga formava a linha defensiva do Rio Tejo.
    Depois de extinta a Ordem dos Templários e terminada a necessidade de defesa do território, acabou por cair no esquecimento, sendo recuperado pelo espírito Romântico do séc. XIX que orientou o seu restauro e lhe deu o aspecto que vemos actualmente.

    🇬🇧 EN: Castelo de Almourol "was born" in a granite outcrop, located on a small island 310 meters long by 75 meters wide in the middle of the Tagus River in the municipality of Vila Nova da Barquinha (Santarém). It is one of the most emblematic monuments of the Christian Reconquest. Together with the castles of Tomar, Zêzere and Cardiga formed the defensive line of the Tagus River.
    After the demise of the Templar Order and the need to defend the territory ended, it ended up falling into oblivion, being recovered by the Romantic spirit of the century. XIX that guided its restoration and gave it the aspect that we currently see.
