James O'Brien's passionate exchange with a caller who tried to defend Rishi Sunak's wife

James O’Brien’s passionate exchange with a caller who tried to defend Rishi Sunak’s wife’s non-dom tax status. ‘It’s not right that the man in charge of setting economic policy is married to a woman who avoids it!’ and @ stated in a tweeter rant ‘The woman has more money than you could spend in 10 lifetimes and people are defending her non-payment of taxes….🤦‍♂️ The same people would jail a person who works on the side to try and earn a few extra quid for his family.’

  1. Always nice to see brainwashing in action. When you're so caught up in your delusion that you can't see clearly anymore. Now … who planted those delusions? The reasons should be obvious, and they're 1:1 why you have so many poor and low income households in the US that will vote GOP. Brainwashing, making you believe in a false narrative so that you go against your own interests. Seems to have caught on in the UK as well. 🙂

  2. Non-dom status was invented a couple of centuries ago to protect the interests of slave owners and colonial exploiters. It could be abolished tomorrow without destroying society as we know it. But the non-dom status of Mrs S is less egregious than the fact that her husband maintained a Green Card status until Covid engineered its lapse. A Green Card entails an intention to make the US one's permanent residence.

  3. Is there no pride in paying tax? We love the NHS, state education is not good enough, there’s shockingly bad care of the elderly. All the things we want to be better, yet the poor in this country support tax avoidance…..go figure

  4. I was under the impression anything she earned in India or in any other country. She paid tax to that country. Anything she earned in this country she paid to this government. I can't think what she has done wrong if that is the case. It's seems fair to me.
I'm sure I will be educated

  5. I find it infuriating that the chancellor has ordered an investigation into who had leaked the info about his and his wife's tax affairs, maybe if he hadn't been dishonest it wouldn't have had to be leaked, he's a hypocrite and he needs to go, there's no integrity in this government whatsoever!

  6. The ignorance of this caller is astoundng. I clearly see why the tories could rule for 10years and yet voters still vote them in blaming Labour for the austerity of the Tories. This is silliness. She does not even see the problem with her point of argument.

  7. The conservatives have defunded (and legislated) many of the ministries to the extent that they are no longer fit for purpose. I include the NHS, environment agency and hmrc in this statement.

  8. Was Lorraine defending Mrs. Sunak or is Lorraine not paying tax via some other loophole? Could employers pay one of their employee's rent or fuel bills once a month to avoid the employee paying tax on that amount because they never received it as income? Should British employees start looking for ways to avoid paying as much income tax just to *uck the treasury and have fewer funds for the public services we all need? Mrs. Sunak's nom-dom status did not prevent her from claiming British tax-payers through her husband's furlough scheme, a scheme or scam that handed over public money to wealthy companies' who could well afford to pay their employees wages out of their large profits or their own personal wealth like Mrs. Sunak receives in nontaxable dividends. This government gets away with giving taxpayers money to help the already very wealthy companies or people,, but has a problem giving any more to British pensioners and Britain's poorest who are really suffering because of the multiple crises we are all facing. Maybe Mr.Sunak should request all those furlough and loan payments he gave to wealthy companies who would have survived without them and start giving that money to the British public who may not survive without it. Mrs.Sunak should return her furlough money and appeal to all people or wealthy companies who wish to follow Mrs.Sunak's lead and help those British families who her husband ignored in his spring budget. Tory MP's should start an appeal calling out to all those companies who received the publlcs money during lockdowns to please return all or some of it to help fund the British public who could really do with financial support. Tell it to the British media because youtube is not viewed by the number of viewers needed to have the correct impact, James O'Brien' does a wonderful job bringing attention to many important topics that British Mainstream media never mentions.

  9. Lorraine bless her, is a selfish woman. Her morality doesn't allow her to understand why so many find are appalled at Mrs Sunaks tax avoidance even though it is technically lawful.

  10. I think the problem is we as a country have been far too influenced by our American cousins and their “American Dream”. That old adage that in America anyone can make it, anyone can become rich you just have to work at it has somehow been transplanted into our culture. Like when this caller was trying to justify Sunak’s wife’s behaviour by saying oh anybody can become non-domicile and avoid tax. Yes theoretically they can…..just one problem, IT COSTS MONEY TO BECOME NON-DOMICILE AND AVOID TAX! It isn’t like renewing your drivers license, fill in a form pay a few quid and it’s done. It costs thousands and to do it properly and legally you need financial and legal help and advice and those people don’t work for free!

So yes “anyone can do it” but what’s the small print there? SO LONG AS YOU ARE RICH!
