Buying a House in The Algarve/Portugal and The Reality Of Renovating #68

This video is just covering the basics of buying a house in the Algarve/ Portugal and the reality of renovating. Renovating is not easy, takes commitment, grit, patience and determination. This is based on my own experiences and nothing more. Slightly different from my normal videos but hope it will be of some use to anyone planning to move here. Thanks for watching and all your support

  1. Gorgeous! Sky so beautiful it looks fake 😃 I would love to live in such a property in nature. However being a single female in the middle of nowhere could be a challenge. I have experienced traumatic house break ins in the past. I am 52, looking for a semi retirement property but still enjoy morden conveniences and amenities, sociallife. Nor quite ready for isolation:-(

  2. Thanks Andy for the context..I appreciate your transparency.. We just bought Quinta in Santa Barbara de nexe.. probably will experience a similar "rollercoaster". I am looking forward to the updates of your renovation project. Truly enjoy watching them. Good luck. Cheers Ben.

  3. Good video Andrew. Hopefully you have helped to remove the stars out of some peoples eyes. Your property is looking stunning. Looks as though there is a bit of growth in the grass. I see those new trees are looking healthy. Beautiful cloud formations above as you were filming the video. Cheers

  4. Not boring at all Andy. The processes sound much the same as here in France – find yourself someone to help with the bureaucracy from the get go!. Here in France they advertise in local papers. Buy yourself a cement mixer and wheelbarrow on day 1…and never think of selling them. 🙂

  5. Thanks for the info Andy, love your positivity, renovations, beautiful scenery, puppies, does james have his own channel too? Very addictive, look forward to seeing the renovations move forward, 🥰

  6. Sound advice Andy. I'd recommend that anyone wishing a new life in Portugal is to "try before you buy". Come out in the winter for a month and then again in the summer for a similar period. We have a place in Lagos and spend as much time as we can there. We love it to bits but we also love the UK. We therefore made the decision not to move out full time. It's a big decision so don't jump in with your eyes closed!

  7. Was brilliant to see you all laugh last video and great to see your joy in friends visiting. Still chuckling at the window rendering – best way to learn – laughing and encouragement gets my vote
Thanks for this video and your delight joy and positivity gratefully received. Have a great week x

  8. Thank you for this reality check. I am not there yet buying a house. So I am still in my dreaming stage. And looking for lots of good information to be prepared and make the dream true. Your information is valuable. 👍🏻

  9. I dream of buying a property in the Algarve or somewhere close to it. I'd like to come visit you when I'm in Portugal if I may. Not sure when that will be yet but hopefully soon. Any recommendations on where I should stay when I'm there?

  10. Andy, your videos are a breath of fresh air… very informative, educational and oddly enough interesting. It never ceases to amaze me that, especially Americans, view the rest of the world as 3rd world and expect property values to be pocket change. I know nothing of other countries pay scales, but, when I see a ruin selling for $100,000 or more, I wonder how the average person can afford to purchase a home. Love watching your videos, look forward to seeing more local flavor.. the cafe, shops etc..

  11. Andy, my wife, son, and I look forward to every Wednesday night and Saturday afternoon. Watching you walk around on your land just now, just beaming your pride of ownership, definitely spreads to us the goodwill and joy you are hoping to provide your viewers. In fact, I can't remember if I already said this in previous comments, but whenever we need to get to work and get a job done, we've taken to calling it "Andying" and somehow telling each other that we're going to do some "Andying" makes the work fun. After today's video, I can remind my son that if you're going to get something tough done, then you have to have "balls of steel!" Seriously, man. We really appreciate you!

  12. Very informative and real this video is! Thank you for sharing about all of this as I was wondering about the procedures of buying there. And yes, you have been very uplifting and encouraging to us! I really enjoy your videos! Many thanks again!

  13. Thank you for giving SO much of yourself.I can say as an actor from New York you have inspired me to buy a home and make an arttempt to perhaps pour a sidewalk or my dream goal would be to get into rock work on my home if I am fortunate to come.Just seeing you plant trees and concrete work reminded me that I can do it although it may not be perfect .At least I will have purpose in my life. I am tired of self centered people and I want to help myself and others.
