  1. Hello Joric, many thanks for the video. I am thinking of miving to Portugal in the near future and would like to ask you a few questions.

    1. Is it easy to find a part-time job if one does not speak and write any Portuguese if he is not from the IT background?

    2. Do you see many Asian expats in Lisbon? I know that most expats are from the U.S and the U.K.

    3. I will be coming to Portugal in December. Could you suggest some wonderful places around LIsbon that I should check? What is your opinion on Setubal, Almada and Sintra?

    Many thanks Joric!

  2. We literally just bought our home without the expectation of selling it…And we got a super deal!! It can be a summer family home so a real 'investment'!! We are "home"!! That said…Lisbon I so much more than the touristy 'center'…We started out in Avenidas Novas and LOVED it!! Center, but not center…Really a lot more to Lisbon than Cais do Sodre, Belem, etc…

  3. Thanks Joric for this video. I appreciate it greatly and hope you didn’t mind preparing it. It’s always helpful to see what criteria was used by others that have made the leap across the pond—and I believe you’ve expressed this very well. Appreciate elaborating on your ‘No Vehicle’ criteria as this coincides with ours. We’re now both retired so for us, the work issue is not too important as you might imagine. Each of us have to decide the top criteria (as you‘ve done) and make a decision. We’re hoping to revisit this Spring and in September—hoping to narrow down the numerous options PT offers. Please continue with your excellent and informative videos. I trust you’ll never need to tax the healthcare system in PT. All the best! 👍🏻 —maurice

  4. I agree with you that it’s important to have a backup plan according to your circumstances. Property is a huge thing to consider before settling anywhere as it is having easy access to airports that connect you with the rest of Europe and the world for that matter. Another option is to live in the middle of Portugal where rent is really low and rent a car to travel and stay in other parts of Portugal. If the rent is really low you can use it as your home base. No to buy that’s for sure but to experience the country and see what suits you best and if you choose to buy then know what to expect.

  5. Good video. Your list looks just like mine. We had talked ourselves out of Lisbon and more into Porto but after watching this, I think we may need to revisit that again…
