😀 A BIT ABOUT US:
We’re Marianne & Chris, a happily married couple from the UK. Marianne is a living kidney donor to her best friend, and realising that life was for living and never really knowing what’s round the corner – we decided to fulfil our dream of travelling full time.

So in March 2018 after the kids had left home, we sold our belongings, rented our house and moved into our campervan called Trudy. We set off to see the world and after vanlifing around Ireland and Europe, we grabbed our backpacks and spent 5 months exploring Central America.

Feeling like we needed a challenge, we planned the ultimate van life adventure! In Jan 2020 set off to drive around the World from UK to UK. But after arriving in Turkey, covid caught up with us and closed the borders, so we had a wonderful 18 months exploring this special country. Realising we were not going to be able to head further East, we decided to do a handbrake turn and go the other way and shipped our van to the USA.

We hope you enjoy coming with us, and we’ll continue to share our real adventures and hope you feel inspire to step out of your comfort zone and try something new.

  1. Loved this, sadly councils in the UK still tend to stop this kind of initiatives just like tiny home living 🙁 one day everyone will notice the benefits though

  2. I live in Albuquerque and have been to the Earthships a few times. Love to go in and sketch. You got quite a tour!—only gotten the cheap one where you go around and read the signs. I understand they are quite expensive to build–double what a very nice energy efficient home would cost. The area in Taos is zoned for this and basically given free rein for whatever they want to do. (Taos is somewhat a hippy town so there's that.) You do a great job of video–and quite a trip you are taking.

  3. Hello Marianne and Chris, we have been watching you since you were in Turkiye. We are a small Turkish familiy living in Bay Area / San Francisco. Hope to meet you soon if you plan to come to North California(SF). Take care, enjoy…

  4. Glad you all got turned onto ships. My husband and I used to build them….lots all over CO. We built them in the high country of South Park, CO…10,000 feet growing fruit trees inside….Get yerself one! Check out the design concept for earthships in hurricane zones and disaster relief zones that Reynolds and other certified builders are doing all over the World. Check out what a tire bale is too…much faster building than pounding dirt.

  5. Definitely loved that Earthship concept. It's almost like a living in an above ground bunker with everything that you'll need. I loved how everything blends and the earthy colors. What a fantastic idea!!!!! Thanks for showing!!!❤👍

  6. So glad you got to see this! Earthship is a YouTube rabbit hole I've been down once or twice. Fascinating concept & philosophy, and building them takes a lot of hard work.

"Land beavers" — 😆😆 They are little engineers, they just build tunnels instead of dams! ❤️❤️😎👍xx

  7. Durango is cool and the parks along the Animas River are nice. We always check out cemeteries on our travels. If you go to Silverton, don't miss a visit to the Cemetery, very unusual!

  8. Super stoked you visited the earth ship community, I've been following these guys and learning from them for year's, would love to get over from oz to do the course, that and the Dome making course, you captured them well 🤩

  9. Again, getting me all emotional with this video love letter to the Earthship!! Literally my dream house, I have plans to go to Earthship Academy and build my own one day. You two are amazing and I love love love your channel!! 🤍🤍🤍

  10. Loved that you showed us this off grid earth community. A group of us have been talking about a future retirement community in the desert. One of those earth buildings would be a great community center. I online chat with a nomad lady who is in Colo. right now in Grand Jct. She's going to be a campground host up on the Mesa but can't work yet because there's still snow. The Colorado mountains are definitely the place you want to go in the Summer to get away from the heat. Looks like you found a great spot there on the BLM land. Hope you're enjoying your time through northern Calif. right now. Have a good week ahead.
