  1. Lithium is well-researched science, but it only has one valence electron, which means that it's usefulness as a semiconductor matierial is constrained. It can't move charges efficiently. Slow to charge, and problems with heat.

There are some cool things happening with aluminum-ion batteries. Aluminum has three valence electrons, which means that it charges and discharges faster ,and doesn't have the runaway heat problems that lithium does. Apparently, it isn't as energy dense as lithium-ion batteries, but aluminum is far more abundant than lithium.

  2. Sadly the Labor party in Australia is as much against the environment as the conservatives, it would probably be best if they had to form a coalition with more left-leaning parties to govern.

  3. We really need this news. I always look forward to it. It's easy to get sucked into the misery, but we have to also focus on our wins as well or we can sink into depression and the feeling of futility.

    Thank you PLN!

  4. maybe it's just me, but it feels weird when you have a news item that honestly sounds really bad, but it's framed as positive because there are people protesting it
