It’s been a crazy week! Temperatures soared to 39c! This is the week that we finally renovated our Farm House Kitchen! It’s been nearly 3 years that we have lived with a very basic old kitchen, we finally bit the bullet, and designed a new one. ❤️

We are Ken & Gina. In 2019 we left the UK in search of a simpler life, away from our office jobs, and the hustle and bustle of the big city. We sold our house, drove to Portugal in a Motorhome, left the Rat race behind us, and bought a farm. We found an amazing property in Castelo Branco, Central Portugal where we have lived for the last 3 years. We make these videos for our friends and family, and as a record to look back on to see how far we have come. We are always amazed at how many people have been watching, following, and subscribing to our vlogs. Thanks for watching 😊

I remember long time ago when my dad had a farm in Rio Maior region and our neighbors had animals (we had chickens, 2 goats and 1 pig), and they used some kind of yellow stuff that kept the flies away, that was great.

Really cool upgrade on the kitchen. DIY rarely goes to plan and not having the right bits only adds to the frustration. Stuart is a great dude and he's been doing a great job with my son's barn conversion near Fundau and he's given some sound advice to me ahead of a house purchase we're hoping to complete next week near Tomar.
Hope the rest of the project goes to plan and you find the right sofa's to complete ASAP.

Some horse farms use a method of mist over doors and windows to keep flies out of barns. I do realize that drought is a big deal in your country so I don't know if it is feasible there. The other good thing about the mist system is it cools humans and animals down a little. We use a lot of citronella ,lavender ,and other plants around all our buildings as well. And screen doors or even those Velcro mosquito nets in doorways they have magnetic closures so the dogs could get through them without tearing them down. Honestly a home made wooden screen door is probably better than the plastic junk on line. Dried insect repellent herbs hanging all over the outside and inside might help even a little. I suppose it's better to get used to it like the weather and such but just sharing some ideas ❣️❣️❣️
Love the new modern functional kitchen and all the future ideas for that also ! There are some great peel and stick products to go over the old tiles and these new tiles have colors and patterns for every taste . Also there are paints that (once you sand the old tiles) will stick and cover the old tiles. You both have come so far in making your home more comfortable. It's LOVELY ❣️❣️❣️. May be a screened roofed porch would improve liveable square footage and keep house a little cooler ? God bless ❣️

Very lovely kitchen and Stuart did a real nice job. There’s a lot more than just putting the cupboards together and I think it came out fantastic. Did Gina’s mom get to c the finished kitchen?
Oh I love the countertop you chose. So much more functional than the temporary one. The clean white cabinets are a nice backdrop for the counter as well as the tile walls. It's going to be a comfortable, friendly room. Hopefully the missing pieces will arrive soon and your mother in law will be suitably impressed!!!!!
It may be possible to find fly traps to cut down on the fly populations…..
