Really glad you enjoyed my home country. Hope one day I'll get to visit Belarus.
Sintra is a magical place, it's known as the disneyland for adults cuz there are palaces everywhere with all the shapes you can imagine!
If you want to enjoy the atlantic ocean, I'll recommend to visit Algarve (especially Quarteira), it's known as a great destination for beach lovers. If you love to go out, I'll recommend more Lagos (also in Algarve) with a great nightlife (I like to call it the "Ibiza of Portugal").
I never visited Azores but my father's cousin lives there, really great destination for nature lovers with a lot of volcanic activity (kinda reminds not just Ireland but also Iceland in my opinion with awesome lakes to swim and enjoy).
Madeira is great (I went there when I was a child), great beaches and with a very unique cuisine (with bolo do caco, espetada em pau de loro, …).
Porto is becoming a very popular destination too. Fun fact: the first book of harry potter was written there when JK Rowling lived in Porto where she gave english classes. It's there where is produced the Porto Wine (very tasty, recommend it, wine is very cheap in Portugal).
About the tiles, they are used to conserve the heat in winter and to fresh up the houses during summer (it's really good to control the houses' temperatures).
Hope you come back to Portugal one day! Although during summer is very crowded with tourists so be aware of that! Prices rise a lot during summertime!
