Who are Kara and Nate?!
Watch our documentary here:

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married 2013 and were super “normal.” I was a teacher and Nate started a small printing business from the spare bedroom of our apartment. We discovered the world of “travel hacking” & became obsessed. So after 2 years of obsessively saving $35k and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016 for a “one year” trip around the world. Our goal was to see as many places as possible before we ran out of money and went home to “normal life.” We started this travel vlog to share our experiences with friends and family, but quickly fell in love with this lifestyle and did everything we could to keep going. 4 years later, we achieved our new goal of visiting 100 countries and all 7 continents. We had no plans to slow down, until 2020 forced us to 😉 Which is when we bought a converted van to start exploring our own country for the first time. Van life was a major adjustment and so different than flying every week like we were used to, but we are incredibly thankful to be able to continue doing something we love every day. 😊🎥🌎

  1. The tips I learned from your video: Air tag for checking luggage (I never do bc of fear of losing my luggage but now I will consider), no need for extra stuff like a travel pillow. Keep a bag of coffee supplies, lots of underwear, hard sunglasses case, one dressy outfit and also who really cares what you wear lol

  2. Okay so I'm stealing your coffee kit. My plan was to just pack a bunch of instant coffee packets in my bag, but your way is better. I can't take any chances when it comes to coffee. Rolling up to a place after a day of travel and there's no coffee? Nightmare stuff.

  3. Thank you for bringing us all into your very personal lives! Your packing chops aside, which are stellar, I am so impressed how you two live so beautifully in the present. You have no apartment or house back home in the USA waiting for you to return. You two don't seem to be mailing home stuff to someday go on a shelf in a living room. You closed your storage unit, and, aside from your van, your "home base" is where ever you two are! So, opening up your suitcases – your "home base" on wheels – and backpacks! was quite the anthropological examination into your lives. Thank you for this episode! We love you guys!!!

  4. I appreciated Kara stating that leaving the "what ifs" behind because you can probably find it where you are was what I needed to hear! I am an over packer. I have travelled all over the world with my son since he was a year old. Each time I travel with him it is different than before because his needs are different as he gets older. Thank you for this video. It's fun to see what people pack and compare to what I do for myself. Safe travels!

  5. I've had my eye on those Wandr bags since the 1st time I saw them here! Hearing you say how good they are has got me wanting one even more! What litre capacity are the ones you're using please?

  6. i love you guys but just an observation. small back and forth banter is a slippery slope that leads to bickering. one day it's playful jesting and the next it's a trip to a judge. always be a champion for your spouse. many times our jokes seem light hearted to us but they tend to pile up and sit in the recesses of our minds. my advice is just don't do it. contradicting or calling out your spouse in front of others is a sure fire way to drive a wedge between partners. i cannot imagine traveling for 6.5 years with the same person so i know you guys have a super solid relationship or one of you would have been found in a shallow grave by now, but take it from experience, make a concerted effort to be a champion for your spouse. if you do have to call them out or contradict them, do it behind closed doors and in a constructive way. i bartend and i can tell from a mile away the relationships that are fully supportive and those that are not. we all have rough days and it's how we handle those that make or break us in the long run. i love the channel and your zest for life. keep up the good work and always remember you're a team taking on the world!

  7. As a friendly tip from an American with an Asian husband. My husband and I traveled for years in the USA and over seas 60 countries. I recommend instead of the balled up USA Loofah, switch to the Asian loofah, it works so much better and it packs better and drys faster. It looks like a very thin scarf. But it works! Can be bought as almost any Asian store in the USA and all over Asia.

  8. Haha, I've just come back from Rome for 6 days and took 4 times as many clothes as Kara travels with!!!!! I did wear most of them due to the heat and sweating but watch this puts me to shame!!

  9. I loved the packing video. My husband and I just returned to Tennessee from a 7 night Alaska cruise. Before rhe trip I was researching what to bring. I was told that we could have ANY kind of weather AND there would be "dressy" nights. I tried to plan for every situation. I rolled and used packing cubes, over thought and repacked so many times. The night before the trip, my husband packing much less than I, not rolling his clothes couldn't get his much smaller suitcase closed. I rolled his clothes for him and it all fit. I wore almost everything I packed, somethings I wore more than once. Honestly my husband could have traveled with a carry on. He pretty much just changed underwear and occasionally his shirt. He wore the same jeans almost the entire trip. Bottom line, it all worked out. We both felt like we had what we need, but mostly we just enjoyed the experience.

  10. Hi guys! 😃 You are so good at making this videos.. Love it! This one is also fantastic inside in travelers world, we don't talk about much.. I've learned we pack similar stuff.. 😂👏👍 Looking forward to your next videos! Safe travels! 🙋🏻‍♀️

  11. It amazes me that after all these years of travel, you still have so many inefficiencies in your packing system :). Makes me feel better about my own packing (which is: cubes, folding, never-ever check in luggage, and rolling luggage – unless it's a bicycle/sailing vacation or a fairly short trip where just a backpack suffices).

  12. Love your videos!!!
    Loofa all the way!
I mix between roll and fold
No packing cubes – great tip to maybe start trying.

This video was awesome! I travel often and I love getting new ideas or tips.
