If you are traveling to Portugal, several beaches are dog friendly. Most beaches along the coast are not open to dogs, so make sure you read the signs on the beach before entering. Whether you are up in Porto, in Lisbon, or down in the Algarve, here is a list of beaches and locations.
Coral Beach – Viana do Castelo
Ramalha Sul Beach – Esponsende
Suave Mar Beach – Esposende
Brito Beach – Porto
Praia dos Pescadores – Oeiras
Praia das Amoreias – Torres Vedras
Furnas-Rio Beach – Odemira
Porto da Areia Norte Beach – Peniche
Ursa Beach – Sintra
Always check signs on the beach to determine if dogs are allowed or not.

Hi Joric, super informative video for those of us with dogs. Thank you! I'm currently researching moving to the silver coast with a friend who has a 55 lb dog but they don't want to put them in cargo for the flight over. Do you know of any other ways of transporting a dog to Portugal?
This is one of the only times I am without a dog, having lost my Katie last year… I always enjoyed taking our dog to the beach and in New York had to do it off season (April to October). I am wondering about taking dogs on public transportation, trains, buses, etc. since we don't plan to have a car in Portugal.
