A perfect place for our BABY DUCKS on our Off-Grid Portuguese Homestead 🦆🦆🦆🦆

Dan and I are getting ready to introduce animals to our Portuguese homestead. This week, we’re upcycling our scrap pile again. We’re turning our house leftovers into a duck paradise to best replicate their natural environment. This project on our Off-Grid Portuguese homestead cost us NOTHING, and we think our baby ducks will be super happy there.

36 weeks ago, we bought an abandoned farm in Tras-os-montes, North Portugal, and we’re building our dream house with a public garden, an ice cream kiosk, and our dream house optimized toward minimalist yet comfortable living. But we’re not just building a house – we’re bringing back to life an entire Portuguese Homestead and working on being self-sufficient.

We left the Rat trace for a simple life in North Portugal. And this is a slice of our dream and a new simple life. Follow us on Facebook:

  1. Great build! Made even better by using up left over material. The ducks look like Indian runners. My favourite duck. Sorry to hear about your grandmother, but take heart that she lived a long life. Still never easy. X

  2. Hi Sindy and Dan,
My condolences on the passing of your grandmother!
On a better note, congratulations on the progress you have made in such a short time, the place is starting to look like a wonderful homestead, may you always be happy in it.
As you plan on opening it up to be public I will make sure to pass by when I move back in a few years.
Question for you… what’s the purpose of the crayfish?
    Regards from ON

  4. Hello Sindy and Dan, Oh Gosh I must have missed you telling us about the passing of your grandmother, blessings to you and your family. So now you are really developing a lovely homestead. How lovely to have all these animals around . So eventually you will fill the water tank up. Do you plant water plants in there? Also, I am interested in the fact that you will put crayfish in the tank. Tell us more about that. The only thing I know about crayfish is that i love to eat them!! Will your chickens become "free range"? I see my little mates out and about. It must have been warm Gruff was out of bed LOL. I have a busy week ahead of me dealing with children so until next week, LETS DO IT

  5. Warmest thoughts to you and to your family during these sad days. I’m sure that your Grand -Maman is super proud of what you have and what you will achieve to reach your dreams. Take super care, Laura xx
