In this Video I hired 2 builders from the village to help us install the roof.
But my father and I ended up finishing it by ourselves.

Hi guys, I am Alex.
I am an Ukrainian expat who moved to Portugal.
No one in my family ever did any farming, But I discovered that I am very passionate about farming so recently I’ve purchased this 28 hectares Farm in Central Portugal, with the intention to start a small scale farm raising worms, cattle and sheep.
In this little farm I am also planning to build an off grid home, and be as self sufficient as possible, by growing my own food.
I created this channel to share my journey with the world, The journey of a first generation farmer, that is starting with no prior knowledge and experiences.
That maybe all the mistakes that I will make along this journey, and all the fails maybe will help some of you to learn from my mistake and not make them yourself.
I want to bring value and inspire people who are thinking about farming.
I am not a filmmaker or an editor, I am just a simple guy with a camera.

Alex, I'm so excited for you and also proud of you and your father. Now it looks like a house it's beautiful, best wishes for your father hope he is feeling better.
it looks beautiful, even with a bad back your dad did a better job than the roofers. can not wait for your next post.
Good work lots of help
Building standards are different here in Portugal, It is fortunate that you were on site to oversee the potential mayhem, well done it looks good.
So great to see you both back I have been in hospital so mist you some how I am excited to best wishes
Now you have to cover some of the holes around the walls outside! 😉
Alex, I love your perfectionism and determination, it really is admirable; you remind me a lot of Nick! ❤🥰
question?..can you leave the plastic film on the roof panels?
And After tue next Storm your neighbour has new roofparts!!!😜😜👎👎🇩🇪
Hats off to you and your dad for rescuing the roofing project after the builders let you down so badly with the installation, Alex!
Looking amazing already and progressing so well!
All the best
I really wish you would invest in some really strong scaffolding – and lots of it. It would be a tragedy if either you or your Father, were badly injured from falling. Also you might want to think about wearing a safty harness. In the UK, we use strong scaffolding poles and boards.
Hello Alex any news on the digger
I'm worried about the screws they used, in the UK they have rubber grommet round the head which is squashed to make sure no water gets in, they used metal ones.
I really learned from this video as I will have to put these roofing boards on my place soon but I have concrete beams.
Portuguese construction guys are a disaster. You have to tell them exactly what to do otherwise they screw up. You are buying just the manual labor and not expertise… expertise is nonexistent
17:12 Yellow Idiot. What would happen if cement landed in Alex's eye.I'd kick the bastard out right away from the work. without pay.
LOOKS FANTASTIC ALEX. YOU AND DAD MAKE A GREAT TEAM ‼️‼️🔨🚜. Vinny 🇺🇸
Looking great! If I was you I would put roof seal on those screws so you are shure they don't let water in to the isulation. A seal that is a mix between silicone and glue. Sikaflex ore Tec7 is some brands. What do you put on the end to cover the insulation.
🇳🇴👍👍👌
Bro great job
Excellent work Alex, you and your dad make a perfect team – I really enjoy your videos. Your dad needs to be spoiled with a good sauna and massage now that the roof is on.
I saw the injury your dad got so suddenly. One moment you're good and the next moment you're ripe for the wheelchair. In Germany this injury is called Hexenschuss. You could translate it in 'shot from a witch'. There's nothing you can do to cure, beside laying flat for four days and taking pain killers. After a small week, you're good to go. But as long as you keep working, bending, sporting, moving, the witch never sleeps. So the Hexenschuss can always come back and often when you don't expect it. Something else I noticed during the attacks I suffered, was that it has something to do with a stressed mind. The last time I got shot by the witch was when I picked up a pingpongball, go figure. I had a lot of troubles then, but somehow – since that last shot – it is now twenty years ago.
Great job ! Alex what nationality are you and your father ? I was just curious.
👍👍👍..
The roof guys are just so unprofessional, it is a shame with such a good job you and your father are doing for this crap roof guys didnt understand a opportunity for a good advertising they will not last. Keep going Alex and father.
It seems to me that one thing Portugal lacks are good honest roofers. You are the lasat in a long list of people that have had terrible luck with their roofers.
