  1. 10/21/22 – Not exactly an adventure gone wrong, but we arrived in Madeira this morning and our morning venture to Santa Catarina Park and Monte Gardens left us soaked but happy! The day grew brighter, and we are sitting on our balcony on the Virgin Valiant Lady looking out at beautiful Funchal. Sadly, we cast off in a couple hours as we head for many sea days to Miami. We must come back for a long stay–maybe forever!

  2. Hello my friend, great stuff my wife and I watch all your videos. I have always wanted to visit madiera and we are on our way tomorrow. We have packed up shorts and t shirt and also pants and long shirts. I was checking the weather on the internet and was showing 60s. In this videos you are all walking around with shorts and t shirts. Do you think we'll be ok with shorts and shirts?

  3. My wife and I thought we would retire in Madeira. Then we drove on the island for a week. I too ended up on a road that was insanely steep. It was scary. We ended up opting for mainland Portugal.

  4. Bom Dia lovely people,
As always a great entertaining video with lots of information and a lot of eye candy!
Yes, I feel your pain!, missing a wonderful festival.
Thank goodness there are many festivals to enjoy at Madeira Island. I was born and raised in The Netherlands and I traveled all over Europe when I was young. , so I am so used to all these ancient countries with their ancient narrow roads and ancient habitats and dwellings. Roads were not meant for cars. Europe is old, very old. The roads were sometimes not even meant for carriages, but just for an Ox (an Ox is a castrated bull) to pull whatever they had to pull. I was once almost and I say almost it didn't take an inch from being stuck with my car between old houses in a street (cobbled stoned)that started out wide and narrowed and narrowed. That was in a town in Spain on the Costa Blanca.
I really admire you guys to walk 45 minutes uphill back to the car.
My two cents into this: if there is another walk-about try to figure it out by taking your wonderful Beetle car and riding the route.
(gosh you must have lost at least 5 lbs🤩)

  5. We are just back from Madeira after a wonderful holiday and had a couple of 'easy' walks which were anything but. We were so exhausted after one I found my way to a hotel and ordered a taxi to get us back to the car. Great fun on hindsight.

  6. Seems all of you adjusted to each challenge with little stress and just went with it. Always a good approach. I've been in many similar driving situations here in the Rocky Mountains where the stress is unavoidable and definitely warranted. Glad you are safe and hope the car came away unscathed. It'll Be Fun definitely deserves more subscribers!

  7. True and lasting happiness can only be found in Jesus all others is fleeting. I love your videos because Madeira is the home of my grandmother and I'm able to see it only through your eyes and experiences, thank you 😊.

  8. Hey Alan, I hope you and your family are all well. What you've gotta love about Madeira is that even when you're adventure goes wrong, at least the scenery is still beautiful.😍
And your comment about, "We should've read the small print" probably should've been my motto for life in general, I might get a t-shirt made with that printed on it. Don't worry, I'll send you the royalties for the quote 😉
    Have a great week👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿

  9. Hey Alan and co, we just moved to Madeira, living in Paul do Mar! I'm glad to see the channel keeps growing everytime I tune back in. I'm glad you're finding wisdom even in the things that don't go as planned. Wishing you well from across the island!

  10. Somewhat new to your channel and very appreciative of the information you're providing. However, having spent most of my now-past career in one form of video production or another, it's hard for me to not view your videos with an eye to what they COULD be. I'd like to suggest that your videos could be much more effective if they contained shots of the experiences you're actually reporting (such as this one). An old and valuable bit of guidance for creating TV commercials was "Say 'steak,' see steak." Simply drawing upon your library of b-roll for every video means that what you're doing, essentially, is creating podcasts with pretty pictures. And that is certainly fine for sharing of information and experiences, even if somewhat compromised as videos. Also, some on-screen text would be helpful, too, especially when you say names of companies, providers, etc. Carry on. 🙂
