This is the Alvorferias area of Alvor Portugal – a residential area and a holiday resort area. This video shows you the major parking issue we have had for many years that is due to staff & visitors to the adjacent private Hospital Particular that has never provided a proper on-site parking area for staff. The do have parking areas for clients but often they are full or vehicles or the people are just to lazy to use those areas. The result is Hospital staff illegally park and obstruct pavements, inconveniencing residents who own properties in this area.
Young and old are forced to use what is a narrow road if they wish to walk. Hardly a safe area for pedestrians! It is a residential area and not a commercial parking area for the benefit of the Hospital Particular or the new Longevity Hotel / Hotel Salus, who tell me that employees can not park on site but only on the roads, so this will add to the problem.
The HPA group has never shown any interest in helping deal with the problem and appear to think it acceptable for their staff to use the footpaths. The condition of the pavements and roads are in a dire state and need completely rebuilding. Portimao Council apparently will carry out repairs and address the parking issue, but when that will be and how effective that may be remains to be seen. Personally speaking this is an area to be avoided, as Monday to Fridays this is just one big parking lot with many vehicles being driven at excess speeds.
The whole of this area has simply gone downhill – all because of a commercial enterprise that appears to think the entire area belongs to them.
