We stayed in the Douro Valley of Portugal in early November, 2021. We think fall colors were at their peak during this time – it was absolutely stunning!
First, we went for a brief walk up the hillside from where we were staying. We love finding wild blueberries while on walks, but this time – we found grapes! They were growing on the side of the road, just like blueberries on many hikes we’ve taken.
We had already toured a wine cellar in Porto, but we wanted to tour a winery that was surrounded by its vineyard. We lucked into an amazing choice with the Quinta Seara d’Ordens. This video may feel a little sponsored, but it wasn’t in any way (not even a discount on the things we purchased, lol). The guy who took us on the tour (apologies for not writing his name down!) spoke excellent English and explained so much of the process to us and the difference between the wines we tried. Visiting there is an easy recommendation if you’re looking for somewhere small that’s family owned.
Afterwards, they gave us free run of their property, to explore as we wished. We easily got lost in the stunning autumn colors that filled their vineyards. The reds, the oranges, the yellows – oh my! The colors were so vibrant that they were hard to take in.

I love port wine. I drank it for the first time in Portugal and am now a huge fan.
Nice work as usual. Great lesson on everything about Port!
So beautiful, it looks similar to the Okanagan Valley!!
