I’ve said it before, but I APPRECIATE that you pause: You can give your observations without missing any dialogue! Love your reaction style & this intense film 🤜🏼🤛🏾
Such an important film. At the end, seeing you sob broke my heart. I just wanted to give you a hug 😔
Writing this before seeing your reaction Kemi, I know the tears are incoming, but this is a must see film.
Saw this in 1999 as a 15 year old, now luckily I am from the UK and race relations here, while not perfect, are a good half century ahead of the timeline that it is in the USA. The situation over there is basically a mirror image of this country 40 or 50 years ago.
The difference is, in this country we had great comedy writers in TV who showed the folly of racism through the medium of comedy with series such as Rising Damp, the various Alf Garnett series and Love Thy Neighbour.
Modern society takes a cursory glance at these shows and instantly label them racist, without really watching and listening and seeing that while it does have racist slurs and stereotypes in it, the show is parodying it, poking fun at it, and that humour in my mind greatly accelerated the improvement of race relations over here.
The aforementioned shows, if you haven't seen them before, they are a good watch, a good laugh that can help heal the wounds between races because they start the conversation in such a light hearted way.
Gonna re-watch this reaction and do a drinking game🍺. Take a shot every time you say “please” 😉
"But that's by the side" I love that, and intend to incorporate that wherever applicable in my daily vernacular
beautiful reaction.. this movie should be mandatory in schools
Now that's real emotion
You’re awesome. Great reaction as always.
i really like that you discuss your views on these topics i appreciate it a lot, on the topic of immigration you said in Nigeria they are trying to implement things to make sure that the people that live there or good(atleast thats what i believe you meant), totally understand that but if you look at the statistics of US(where i am from) The immigration rate is 4x higher than everywhere else in the world.. i understand that it's not wrong to accept immigrants but it's like if you took the amount of people that were immigrating to nigeria and 10x it.. im sure you could understand(you are a smart lady) how that might be a problem especially if no one inside of the US is willing to make any changes on how it works for the people that already live here.
Thank you for this extremely vulnerable commentary. I was crying with you! This movie is truly powerful and thought provoking in a way not many movies are.
Wow, what a beautiful reaction. You are just the sweetest, wisest and most empathic of people. Much love from Sweden
Like you said. We need to be able to discuss the uncomfortable things if we're going to move past them. Something that has been very difficult and at times even dangerous to do these last few Orwellian years.
Those skin heard would kill you in a heart beat nasty evil people
20 years ago I had to drive through the ghetto to get to work and try not to get shot so I could ruin my body for 18 dollars an hour in a f-ing factory to live in poverty. Not for a year or two years or four years but freaking years! Go to college? Yeah right! Only if I can pay for it myself while other people go for free. Guess I was born the wrong color.
Thirty years ago fast food jobs were for teenage kids working for gas money to go out with their friends on the weekend.
50 years ago an American man could support a family of four roofing.
May God bless you and your open mindedness while watching this movie! Within the first 5 minutes you earned yourself a new subscriber.
The film couldn't have ended any other way, not without sacrificing the honesty that had been driving it up to that point.
It's great that Derek finally saw the hate he was giving to the world, and wanting to stop it. It's great that he wanted to change, to become a better man, for himself and for his family. It really is great–but it doesn't negate the hate he put out in the world.
Danny had learned hate from him, and used that hate in his interaction with the bullies. Derek on the basketball court, the night of the robbery–everything he did was hateful, and all hate does is breed more hate. Danny shouldn't have died; in the end, he was misguided. He was starting the process of "un-learning" the hate, but there had already been so much hate put out in the world.
It's great to want to become a better person. That just doesn't give you a pass on everything you'd done before that point. It doesn't mean that your mistakes still can't hurt the ones you love, that others won't pay for those choices.
The movie, again, couldn't have ended any other way and still have been honest.
We have this job/social support situation like this in Poland now
People from Ukraine come to US and they have free apartments, free healthcare, free money
amazing reaction most in-depth review i have seen amazing
funny how u wore ur happiest shirt to watch this
I'm only halfway through. Honestly, I took the night off to process. Your insight really hits, thank you for sharing. The point you were talking about with passing things off, house cleaning, etc., really struck me. Like, every convenience you indulge in, takes away a little from you. Going to go clean. After the review, haha. Have a great day! <3
Oh Kemi, you really are the best! ❤This film is so powerful, disturbing and handles such a difficult, charged topic with layers of nuance, and I love that you expressed that in your thoughts too.
One of the best films ever made. I don't know if it's shown in school in the u.s. but it has to be shown there! You learn so much bullshit at school that u will never need in life but showing this could change a thing. You cannot change everyone, but if you change only one, it helps the world to get a bit better. I enjoy your reactions, because judging by your emotions you are one of the good. It's getting rarer those days. Thank god for someone like you. Love from germany.
This is probably one of the best and in depth Reviews/Reactions to this movie on YT. Thank you, ma'am!
You honestly think the kids in the bathroom at the beginning of the movie do homework!? Hah.. not a chance. 🤦♂️
It does make me sad that the good people that come from other countries feel like people here treat them bad but it’s a mindset you said it right it’s learned and only a uneducated person with limited knowledge would say the things he says
♥️ You’re amazing!
45k for high school tell me that is not US college maybe not high school I feel bad if that’s true
This movie should be a course in all schools
One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people.
He said, "My son, the battle is between two "wolves" inside us all.
One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.
The other is good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith."
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: "Which wolf wins?"
The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."
I do believe white people ( in Europe) we shouldn’t be afraid . Sadly isn’t the case. But I don’t like the fact of yeha that person is this that ect until we all work live and alright. But it will never happened sadly also I do believe pretty hypocrite when white people are being insult and no one say no thing just hypocrites
YOU HAVE THE BEST REACTION OF ANYONE THATS EVER REACTED TO THIS MOVIE, BLESS YOU.
YOU HAVE THE BEST REACTION TO ANYONE THATS EVER REACTED TO THIS MOVIE, BLESS YOU.
They probably fnished their homework already.
I really like this lady. She is so intelligent, articulate and has a great nature. Her reactions are amazing.
The circle of hate only brings in more hate.
My parents sat me down to watch this film when I was around 11 or 12, probably younger than I should have been, but I'm mixed race and they wanted me to understand the reality of some people's ignorance and hatred and how important education and open-mindedness is for us to live life well and safely. I think this film is so important for all people of all races – I'm 31 now and I've watched this countless times, but I still have to look away from the curb scene. I really appreciate the depth and detail to your analysis and commentary for all the films you watch, but especially for films like this that have such complexity!
kso I just want to give ya a hug!
