Has all FREE wild camping really been banned in Portugal? We spent 24 hours parked up right on the beach, and we didn’t pay a single penny.

  1. It hasn't been allowed for many years but the authorities were very relaxed about it because the locals were happy to welcome campers, but in recent years many van lifers and backpackers abused the privilege sadly, noise, loud parties , trash, damaging the protected cliffs ,add to that many foreign investors started buying property for private houses and hotels and they don't want campers around. They are the ones pressuring authorities to enforce the laws. But if tourists are polite, friendly and clean, locals will welcome you happily and no one will report you.

  2. How to know that it is a legal park up? What do the signs or notices look like? Just the blue ‘P’ sign? How do you know if there is a time restriction such as no overnights? Thank you in advance

  3. Great informative vlog as always guys. Thanks for describing what an Aire is and the different types that can be found. I know other motorhome and van owners are worried that Spain will follow Portugal in restricting areas where you can camp. Like you said though it affects businesses if people aren't allowed to park up. Beautiful area you stayed in, that beach was lovely. The water may be cold around Portugal but that doesn't seem to bother George the fish. Stay safe all of you, Graham 🤗❤
