Are we secretly rich? (Juicy Q&A)

Is living off grid hard? Why did we build a Geodesic Dome? Are we having kids? We’re answering all your juicy questions about life and building our homestead that is completely off the grid! Sitting down for a Q&A and reflecting back on how we got here on our a mission to build a fully sustainable, off the grid homestead was a lot of fun…see you on Wednesday for part 2!

When we first set out on building our cabin, we had planned on doing a traditional a-frame style cottage but as time went on and we did our homework we realized that if we carefully planned things we could build a cabin that won’t just last our lifetime but generations to come. The more we learned about what it truly means to live off grid and be self-sufficient, we quickly realized the importance of building a homestead…for those of you who don’t know (because we definitely didn’t), a homestead is a property with several outbuildings that all provide a separate purpose for the goal self sufficiency! We knew from the beginning that we wanted the independence that having a homestead gave us but weren’t interested in roughing it off the grid like a typical log cabin you’re used to seeing! So we dreamt up a modern twist on cabin life that will fit our needs and after all these days dreaming, it’s FINALLY happening and we can’t wait to bring you along for the ride! #homestead #offgrid #vanlife

How did we get here?
After a year of full time travel living the van life, we had to adapt when the world changed. To keep busy we’ve converted our tiny house on wheels into a fully functioning off grid tiny house that has everything we need. Realizing that none of us know how long this new normal will stick around, we made the decision that building a home here was the best decision we could make. We’ve spent the last year doing EVERYTHING involved with coordinating and planning the build ourselves as well as setting up this off grid property to be able to provide us with the the food we’ll need in the future.

  1. Throwing in the towel on work this week and spending the afternoon with you was such a wonderful decision…we've been going 100 miles an hour lately and not appreciating everything we’ve accomplished. I think it’s easy when you’re deep in it to not only forget how far you’ve come but where you’re going in the first place. Thank you for sending in these questions and allowing us to ramble and reflect on the last two years…what’s the verdict? See you Wednesday?? 🤔 EDIT: There have been a lot of unhappy comments about our pragmatic view on "The One" and we just wanted to clarify something: this is REAL life, not Heartstopper, Love Victor, or any other relationship fairytale. Life is messy and and people are complicated…we both want and HOPE that we'll be together forever but the entire point of that conversation was that IF for some reason it doesn't last (again, we don't think that will ever happen), it doesn't change that it was beautiful💛

  2. Even the way you responded to questions in this video and how you complemented each other without resistance shows how much you’ve grown together in your love and understanding of each other. What you did today in your video needs to continue. Your honest discussion today put me in an emotional state of mind. Who doesn’t want what you have in your relationship together. Love is love, and gender plays no part in that. We’ve watched you grow together week after week. I don’t have any words to express how wonderful I feel about your relationship or how I feel about each of you individually. But, I love it! I’m happy for you both. You move me emotionally because of your sincere true love for each other. It would be an honor and pleasure to meet you both some day so I can personally say thank you for sharing your life with us. ❤️ 🙏

  3. Having watched it all I tend to agree that Todd is usually correct and has a greater than average amount of common sense- especially related to construction and design issues. Tyler is probably better in scheduling and organizing and more big picture oriented while Todd is more in the details and getting things done IMO.

  4. I loved this video. I understand how much work filming and then editing can be so I was wondering if more live videos would be part of the line up. I figured this would allow for more interactive time with subscribers as well as less time working on these videos.

  7. Definitely would love to see that video from the gate tour. Plus would love to hear more about your original visions of your land and what you wanted from it. Has it changed at all? The “then” vs “now” vs “future”. Oh yeah …. Missed seeing the boys today but I’m an animal lover ❤️!!! Keep having fun and smiling especially on those Shit days!!! Everything looks awesome 😎
