Clearing our land is super important! It is for our own safety that it is done. It should be done already, but that wasn’t possible because we arrived to late on the land. We did wat we could do and make it as safe as possible.
Now we had some rain and we can go back to the big work. Using machines and no longer clearing the land by hand. To prepare for the rain, that we hope we have soon, we clear our winter stream.
Arend started working back in the forest.
We start to get to know our land and have plans to start building very soon.
There is always work, so much work, and we can only do one thing at the time 😊
Thank you for supporting us by your encouragements and wonderful tips and advices 🥰
Blessings from,

Superb activity 💓
Thank you so much for another fantastic video! We look forward to seeing what you all get up to each week.
You are a badass sister! 💪💪💪
When planning, remember the space needed for olive harvest….. Great vid as always and you have achieved so much already. Well done 😁
Great work so far. It would be a very good idea, and practice to get a wood chipper, and run all your sticks and forest waste through it, to build up the bio mass of your soil, over time your top soil will grow and you will loose your Stoney soil.
Bonjour. Nice job. Dans quel région de castelo branco vous êtes. Je vous souhaite une bonne journée
A wood chipper does sound like a good idea to add wood chips to your garden or around trees to retain moisture. I suspect the weed seeds have already fallen out as the branches dried.
You might consider building your outhouse using screws &/or bolts, that way you can take it easily apart & move parts if you find a better location. Each wall & the floor can be carried separately. If the floor is big, it can be built in 2 parts. You get to use the outhouse sooner but still get to move it if you want.
Hi there. I am a new subscriber and I am just so happy for you and your family. I have never been to Portugal but I have seen a little bit of it on TV. I just wanted to say that it takes a lot of courage to just start living off grid while raising children. I am not able to do that because of financial issues and no access to my doctor. If I was 20 years younger, I would definitely join you in living off grid.
I have the same saw and I love it but I have a small allotment of 200 sqm. You have a lot more land and a huge amount of clearing to do… You need power tools.. at least a mini cordless chainsaw. It will make your life so much easier especially since time is of the essence . It's so nice to see your land greening up again.
Hi, as part of fire prevention, I recommend that you burn all the prunings you put along the border in winter. In case of fire, that dead prunings provide so much heat that it causes the fire to flare up.
From the size of your land ,looks like you will have a lot to do ,may be you should thing about getting a small tractor it is going to be an investment on a long run, plus it will save you all that labour intensive chores ,and give you some time for building your planned projects.
nice video all the best.
Well done are u going to use some kindling
You are such a hard worker. Good for you! Taking your time is the best decision. Lovely family. Lots of love from Florida
Try to pickup pallets/skids wherever you can as they can be very useful for building outhouses, for stacking wood and kindling, a chicken coop and , especially for platforms to escape any mud etc etc.
Piling the branches up may be counter productive as far as fire danger goes, it may slow the encroaching fire but maybe not…think about it.
Thanks for your vid 😇💟💟💟 Love you all guys.
Preparing for the winter will be your priority, I'm sure. Collecting wood that has fallen and is already seasoned for your wood store is something I'm sure you are already doing. Great job of clearing. Will you be building a bigger chicken shed?
all the "waste" run it through a woodchipper/grinder… and turn it into lovely mulch 😀
Hi Bionda, I see that you have plenty of work. There is much to do but there always is when you are building a life. Are you going to burn those piles or compost them? It is good to clean out your stream bed so it does not flood. Will your outhouse be a septic tank or just a pit? How cold does it get there in winter? Any way to put a barrel stove and a door on your building in case the motorhome gets too cold? I am sorry I ask too many questions. Dutch seems happy. Take care.
You are wise to take your time. Your plans sounds great. 😁
