Location: in the center of Portugal, 7 km from Peniche and 107 km from Lisbon.
Baleal is a small peninsula located north of Peniche, in the western region of Portugal, separated from the mainland by a tombolo, forming an extensive beach (about 4km) of fine white sand. To the south of the peninsula there is the islet of Terra, and to the north there is the island of Pombas and the islet of Fora.
The name Baleal comes from the whale (“Baleia” in Portuguese) and tuna fishing that was done in this area in the past.
Baleal has ideal conditions for bodyboarding and surfing.
