Location
At the southern end of the holiday resort of Cales de Mallorca, the two beaches of Cala Domingos reach far inland. The funnel-shaped sand areas are surrounded by a lot of greenery and small, hollowed out cliffs on the shoreline, but the large, and in places massive, hotels and apartment complexes also have a big impact on the scenery.
Cala Domingos is located on Majorca’s east coast, around 20 kilometres from Manacor. The bay is easily accessible by car and you will find spaces to park right next to each of the beaches. A rocky promontory, which reaches right into the water, separates the two beaches of Es Domingos Grans and Es Domingos Petits. Despite this, it’s only a few steps from one bay to the other.
Both the larger Es Domingos Grans and its little brother Es Domingos Petits are very popular with guests of the surrounding holiday accommodation. In peak season people bustle around the loungers and beach umbrellas, which are laid out in rows. The fact that the bays are sheltered from the open sea by rocks and have soft sand that slopes gently into the water makes Es Domingos Grans and Es Domingos Petits especially attractive for families. But younger and older couples come here too to relax in the sun. Both beaches are equipped with showers and toilets, and lifeguards ensure that everyone can swim safely.
On the sand of Es Domingos Grans you will find a great beach restaurant. Along the narrow road at the northern end of the bay you can quickly reach the local shops and restaurants of Cales de Mallorca. Even the slightly less busy beach of Es Domingos Petits offers sustenance – in a small chiringuito fresh cocktails and snacks are served over the counter, and there is also a programme of events on offer, ranging from fire shows for children to live music and DJ evenings.
