3 of the best beaches in Mallorca: Cala Comptessa (Illetas), Cala s’Almunia and S’Amarador.
1.Cala Comptessa (Illetas) is located in the town of of Illetas, roughly 10 kilometres southwest of Palma de Mallorca.
Illetas has to other beaches to offer, the main beach Platja d’Illetas and Cala Xinxell. All three beaches located within a couple hundred metres of each other.
Cala Comptessa is a lovely little sand beach, nestled between low cliffs and tall trees. The beach is barely 100 metres wide and is not particularly wide.
A small number of sun loungers and parasols are available to rent. There’s tough competition for the spots during the summer, so plan to show up quite early. The same goes for the parking spots nearby.
2.Cala s’Almunia is a very small town consisting of just 30-40 houses. It’s not far from the southern tip of Mallorca, and the closest major town is Santanyi 5 kilometers to the north
The beach in general
The beach in Cala s’Almunia shares its name with the town, but is also called Es Maquer. It is incredibly beautifully situated in a rocky bay surrounded by pine trees.
The small beach is just 10 meters long and 30 meters wide. There are a few rocky outcroppings on the beach itself, but there are also areas of sand/gravel. During certain periods, however, there is hardly any sand on the beach. The water is crystal clear and very inviting for swimming.
3.S’Amarador is one of two beautiful beaches in the Cala Mondrago nature reserve on the south eastern coast of Mallorca.
Aside from its small beach bar, this gem of a beach is still in its natural state. The beach is surrounded by tall pine trees and the view is stunning.
S’Amarador is 145 metres long and 50 metres wide with fine, white sand and clear, shallow water. Should you wish to visit the equally beautiful neighbouring beach of Cala Mondrago, you can follow the 300-400-metre-long mountain path that connects the two. In spite of being smaller than S’Amarador, Cala Mondrago is significantly busier.
