Beautiful Renovation Project in Central Portugal 🇵🇹🏠❤️| PORTUGAL FARM LIFE S4-E35

Our neighbour Acacio invited us to have a look around a beautiful renovation project. He is restoring an old stone building that belonged to his grandmother and making it into a beautiful home for him and his children.

We are Ken & Gina. 2.5 years ago, we got fed up with paying a mortgage and having to work boring office jobs just to keep our heads above water! We decided to take a big chance, sell everything, and buy a motorhome, which we used to drive our remaining belongings and our pets to Portugal. We bought a beautiful farm in Central Portugal where we live with our 3 dogs, 2 cats and a bunch of other farm animals. Every week we release new episodes of our Portugal Farm Life where you can get an inside look at how we live, on and around the farm, and adapt to the challenges of our new lives.

  1. Hi Ken and Gina it’s a nice property he’s done a lot of work only down side is the ceilings are a bit too low for me,is there a reason the windows are so small.views are nice from the top of the building enjoyed the video.

  2. Thank you, Acacio for letting Ken and Gina share a look at your property with their viewers. I also thought before Kenny said it that yours the most gorgeous house i've ever seen from all i've seen on Youtube of houses in Portugal. The design is extremely thoughtful, resourceful, and beautifully designed & crafted. Nothing is ostentatious nor pokey. It's obviously being rebuilt with a hreat deal of love & respect to past, current, and future generations. I'm so glad you'll never sell at any price.

  3. Hi Ken & Gina… I have been watching your videos for a while… First i would like to congratulate you for everything you have achieved in Portugal… I'm in the UK and also thinking on moving to Portugal with the D7 scheme… I am wondering whether you know anything about importing Scandinavians wooden houses and the legality of that… I have been searching in internet but have not found any info about this option… Thanks

  4. Yes Gina, I am also really jealous of Acacio's house 🙂 But I am jealous of your house too 🙂 Acacio's house is our dream house ! I am also amazed by his work! I am working from home in Kent now It is raining and I am watching this beautiful video and getting excited for our farm life projects.. Hopefully in a few years time . Fingers crossed! All the best wishing to you all!

  5. With abundant sunlight in Portugal, we invested in electrical floor heating and infrared panels. They are powered by our PV system with battery. Considering old buildings rarely have proper ground insulation and wall insulation you need to adress damp and bottom cold.

  6. Ken & Gina, can I ask if the roof is made of sandwich panels or traditional clay tiles? It looks great and I’m interested in knowing which material was chosen. I will have to make this choice myself in the future. Keep up the great content.

  7. A,zing! So glad he is using his grandmothers home. The only thin* that wasn’t mentioned was clothes storage. What do the6 use since I didn’t see any closets for their clothes. I love the idea of the hot water area and how it’s heated both from the solar panels and from the fire place area. Can you tell me whe4e he got it? Thanks, another great job! Hugs and love from Texas!

  8. Living my life almost in Lisbon but traveling a lot in Portugal ,i can say that the best houses are in the country side. Mainly because the areas have more space and surroundings that allows more. And the price is much lower. Lovely house. Cheer´s

  9. To be so blessed to have a neighbor like Acacio with many DIY skills is amazing . The stone work is stunning. The Joaquim Family is so connected. And Ken, you did a great job in showcasing
this beautiful property that you can admire for many years to come. Well done, Mate! Sending much love 🙏❤🙏 from Richmond, Va. Jim, Harriet and Yuki

  10. Enjoyed it very much. My only criticism is the size of the bedrooms. But when the whole house belongs to you, bedrooms are basically for sleeping. What a wonderful house, or should I say home, well buit and so thoughtful. Where is the wife/mother?

  11. I never cease to be amazed at how capable the Portuguese are! I'm so pleased that Acacio is making his life near his family. I would love to see young people following in his footsteps. There is so much value in a rural lifestyle near family, and continuing ancestral traditions. And look at his gorgeous, contemporary design! 'Wishing Acacio and his whole family every blessing!

  12. Huge respect to Acacio for his incredible workmanship, vision, and respect for traditional architecture and materials. Loved the style of the house, with its deep verandahs and outer staircase. Along with everyone else really looking forward to seeing the finished house and garden. Thank you Ken and Gina for presenting a fascinating episode. Glad you've had some rain, good to see some greenery again. XX
