👇🏼These FIVE foods (and 🍷) are worth the flight to Portugal! 🇵🇹👇🏼
1) Pastel de Nata: Pastel de nata is a traditional Portuguese egg custard tart that was made before the 18th century by Catholic monks and nuns in Santa Maria de Belém in Lisbon.
2) Francesinha: Traditionally associated with Porto, francesinha is a unique sandwich consisting of toasted bread, beef or pork, sausages, ham, and cheese, while the whole combination is then doused in a rich beer-infused tomato sauce.
3) Port Wine: Port is a fortified wine that has its origins in the Duoro Valley. After fermentation, the wine is fortified with brandy and is usually matured in oak casks.
4) Sanduíche de Pernil com queilo de ovelha (Roasted pork sandwich with soft sheep’s cheese): This Portuguese sandwich consists of shredded pieces of slowly roasted pork shoulder (pernil) which are placed on a crusty bread roll.
5) Arroz de Marisco: This is a delicious Portuguese dish consisting of rice and various seafood, which is also incredible in Portugal. Unlike the popular Spanish paella, this Portuguese variety is not completely reduced and is often described as a thick rice stew.
Can’t wait to be back in Portugal one week from today to enjoy all the delicious food and wine.🍷 Especially the Pastel de Natas. 🤤
