The Canadian federal immigration minister stated that some of the temporary actions that have supported the government to fulfil its goals this year could remain even after the decline of the pandemic.

During the pandemic, the government looked towards the people already in the country to meet its immigration targets when it became challenging to convey foreigners to come to Canada.

Although a few of this year’s new permanent residents have been immigrants and refugees who came to Canada via traditional methods, the federal government was committed to permitting temporary residents to make Canada their permanent home.

Sean Fraser, The Canadian Immigration Minister, expressed that the government developed the actions to manage pandemic-related issues, but these measures could also be practical once the pandemic passes.

He mentioned the “guardian angels” program as one example. That program presented permanent residency to asylum claimants working in the healthcare sector.
