Bizarre Abandoned Portuguese DIY Castle Built by a Single Man!

Exploring abandoned places is my hobby and finance it all out of my own pocket and the donations I get from the people who love watching the documentaries we make… A small donation would be greatly appreciated! ►

A man can hope, dream even, and sometimes his dreams come true

From a rather young age Mister Antonio was already exposed to eccentric places, his parents loved to travel around historical Europe and took him every chance they got. This led to Antonio his early interest in history but especially in castles and palaces. He prolonged to live in such a building so much that he devoted a lifetime of earnings and craftsmanship to it.

Antonio studied hard and got a decent job in a well-regarded Portuguese city, every single moment of free time he got he would devote to the construction of his master plan, a self-build castle. During this period he also met his wife Céu, who was surprising in his project and even helped him with construction and decorations. Céu and Antonio got married, and also had 2 boys and a girl. At a certain point, they even became a bit famous for their efforts in building such a place, and with this, they also started giving tours of their masterpiece.

It was never really finished, until the last days they lived here they were still changing things and reconstructing sections of the castle.

After Antonio and Céu passed away, the children tried to sell the property but was nobody interested in buying it, so it was left to witter with time.

Let us take you today inside the walls of this self-made castle and show you their dream!

  1. Very foolish judgement Leslie, intentionally giving Veteran Michael's address. 6:04
Now you're very likely responsible for whatever happens at that house at the hands of one of your viewers.
Maybe go back to your country and do that. Yes?
We show respect for our Vets here.
Bye and take your staging, fluffy false storytelling brain with you!
    🇺🇸
I also recommend removing the video and reposting an edited version to keep peace with me.
Also can you stop staging (no one leaves checks on nightstand and elderly disabled men don't bake from scratch (you forgot the mixing bowl)). Also, attaching fiction to the past occupant/s of your explores?
I know you couldn't possibly know accurate details of an occupant since you weren't with them simultaneously.
    Thanks.
    Disclaimer:
I unsubscribed long ago and this video was suggested by utube, so I was curious to see if Leslie changed any, he hasn't.

  2. Loving ur costume. Very dapper. The “magical” castle home built by its owner saddens me. The guy obviously had some talent and imagination. It’s too bad he didn’t educate himself about architecture and design. What a waste!

  3. I love this house, it's absolutely amazing… If i had enough money i would buy it and restore it like it is! It's absolutely unique and i love how the owner/builder did this. It's a shame to let it fall apart into dust. I'm in love with this home.

  4. Amazing video Lesley! I would like to think Mr. Antonio would be thrilled to see that someone was there, documenting his masterpiece allowing thousands of people to see it and appreciate it. I could picture him following behind you guys with a huge proud smile on his face. I hope that somehow someone buys and saves this incredible home. Thank you for taking us along. I can't wait till the next adventure.

  5. What makes a person build such a place? I wonder where all the children went ? You would think they would try to keep this home from ruin. Its one of these places that will never come back. I wouldnt want to have to heat such a home. It is something else thats for sure. Great job showing all of us. Stay safe both of you and I will be watching for next weeks show.

  6. So, obviously when he passed, it wasn't that nobody wanted it, it was that the price asked was too high. I don't know why the estate would be left to ruin rather than negotiating to a price that was lower than they wanted. Anything is better than nothing. Greed can ruin everything. It could be like the family looks at it as a family heirloom and don't want it in the hands of someone else, but that attitude only holds merit if someone in the family still uses it, even as a vacation home and keeps it maintained. Sometimes the current situation with these abandoned places is more intriguing to me than their history. Just sometimes. Beautiful place. I think the H was his way of signing his artwork. "I did this myself. Here, here, and here. Here also."
By the end, I was thinking of hoarders. They keep everything because they have ideas how it can be put to use one day. But they never do that. This man used everything he could get his hands on, rather than letting it pile up. The nailing of carved posts onto the bed is an example.
The tiny room in the middle of the stairway is where they kept Harry Potter 😛

  7. As usual love your documentary of this place. Your and Danny’s enthusiasm is contagious, however this place did nothing for me. Although it is in quite a mess I would imagine it was an absolute nightmare to keep clean when they were living in it.

  8. I understand that children encountered difficulties to sell this castle ! A masterpiece like this is priceless ! For them, it will never be enough expensive, given the work made by their parents… And for the buyers, it will always be too expensive, given the renovations to be done, here ! Too bad to think that it will, therefore, fall into ruines !

  9. Ah ! You have put on your Lord costume ! I love it ! This, immerses us more in the ambiance of this beautiful place ! And besides, it suits you very well ; you look really young noble in this 3 pieces costume ! Thanks !!!
