Brazilian Independence Day on Copacabana Beach

This is my second time celebrating Brazil’s independence day while living in Brazil. Generally most people spend the holiday by having large gatherings such as barbecues or small parties. A lot of Brazilians also like to travel to other parts of Brazil to spend the holiday by leaving a few days earlier to get the most out of the big holiday.

Video Description: In this video I talk tips and pointers about spending the Brazilian independence day holiday on the beach on beautiful Copacabana and generally what you need to know in order to get the most out of your day at the beach.

Short history lesson: The Independence of Brazil comprised a series of political and military events that occurred in 1821–1824, most of which involved disputes between Brazil and Portugal regarding the call for independence presented by the Brazilian Empire.
It is celebrated on 7 September, the anniversary of the date in 1822 that prince regent Dom Pedro declared Brazil’s independence from the former United Kingdom of Portugal, Brazil and Algarves. Formal recognition came with a treaty three years later, signed by the new Empire of Brazil and the Kingdom of Portugal in late 1825.
