  1. I still say the players are equally to blame – irrespective of who the manager is! It all seemed to go wrong when the well liked Matt Targett was booted out? 🤔 The atmosphere seemed to change, but in a bad way!

  2. Actually worried we are sleepwalking into relegation, this appointment is the most important decision..it needs to be right or purslow will be next out the door and we will be playing championship football next year. UTV

  3. I tried to give him more time than most but now he's gone it's really hit me just how bad we have been. The fact now we have zero wingers and cannot play many formations is just terrible management. We had no midfield again. We have nakamba who should obviously be playing cdm rather than Luiz…this weird shifting midfield 3 that just doesn't work. Neither attacking or defending. It's just mental.

  4. Just submitted my application for the villa job. I have fnck all experience in management but they used to call me Gerrard when I played football at school. See no reason as to why I'm not qualified.

  5. Completely unsuited to management. He should of been sacked months ago. Picking players whose form was poor showed a lack of understanding what was needed. Coutinho had 3 decent games and 20 awful games. Mings….he was called Captain Calamity for Christs sake……Watkins…..totally without an ounce of confidence and falls over if anybody brushes against him. Why couldn’t Gerrard see this? Good riddance.

  6. There was no coming back from that Fulham performance, especially with the way things were going, but this is not a happy day in my opinion. Sacking 2 managers in 12 months is a bad look. And while Gerrard is either a bad manager or just wasn't ready for this level of a job, he is far from the only problem at the club. This core group of players needs to give themselves a hard look in the mirror, especially our new captain who has been terrible all year. I hope they go all out and bring in a top manager, but I'm not convinced that would fix everything.

Cheers for the content. I always appreciate your opinions.

  7. You know what frustrates me more than anything, he leaves our club with the players believing it’s all on them ! They were poor and I don’t want to make excuses for um but the confusion, the extra pressure he put on them , the hanging them out to dry . He said he protected them but in the same breath slaughtered the lads . Even tonight he pined a lot on Doug (witch I believed was harsh) even tho he watched us for 45 minutes run around like headless chickens and suffer and he did …. FUCK ALL !! Apparently Sawiris left in a rage after the sending off and Purslow followed after him like a little pussy . I just hope he follows Gerrard out the door as that has to go down as one of villas worst appointments EVER !! UTV

  8. He had to go..it’s ok doing the business in Scotland. You’ve realistically only got 2 teams capable
of winning anything..not sure bout you lads but personally I’m over the moon.
Hopefully now we’ll get a manager that knows what they’re doing.

  9. Right decision and probably at the right time. He’s been very respectful to his players and the club throughout so fair play but he wasn’t up to the job and didn’t have the tactical nous needed to succeed. He had an idea of how he wanted them to play and was too bloody minded or arrogant to change it. His whole tenure was like Groundhog Day, so frustrating to watch.
Good he has gone and excited to see who comes in next, they will definitely have the bare bones of a good team to work with UTV
