Home Immigration Brexit. Long airport queues alone show how bad no FOM is for the average Brit

  1. Portugal is NOT letting the British pass through e-gates as if they were EU citizens, please correct that idea. Portugal has got special e-gates that electronically stamp non EU citizens' passports and are connected to Schengen registers. Other countries might want to put the money somewhere else and are happy to show us what it means to be a non EU citizen. Do not pass the information that Portugal is going against EU immigration rules because that is a lie.

  2. Lammy wants closer alignment. Its a first step. Lovin’ the gammons waiting for 3hrs. ‘Grandad did you vote leave in 2016?’
‘Er yes son I did. I am a complete racist prick and took away your rights just before I die’

  3. It was pretty clear that leaving the EU would likely mean that travelling to the European mainland would be on par with travelling to the USA unless it would be the lightest of brexits. And with the cabinet of horrors running the UK during the negotiations it was obvious how poorly thought out the TCA would be and how badly it would work out for the average Brit.

  4. UK could have used the transition phase (5 years) to prepare. And by the way, there are still a lot of temporary exceptions (e.g. due to covid) and grace periods that will expire in 2024. For instance the relocation of the EURO clearing to the Eurozone. The EU is preparing for this event for years now. The EU does its homework properly.

  5. If these queques are the only concern, the actual implementation of Brexit should definetely speeded up,no more exceptions, grace periods etc….let reality bite. No lesson learned yet.
The airport issue might be resolved if recession hit UK.

  6. Boris seems to have avoided a long airport queue when running away from the by-elections disaster.
Naturally the lord of the manor doesn't expect to suffer the same privations as his serfs.🧐

  7. Do you honestly believe that if the Shoe was on the other foot, an influential law making Country. Leaving the EU then before they actually leave Berate the Sons and Daughter's from other Member Countries to leave and Get out of the Country Sharpish .
Would you then be willing to open up the Club to them ever AGAIN.

  8. A bit late for buyers' remorse.

There should have a been a structured debate, with televised civic assemblies –

    – addressed by experts (trade, migration, international obligations (including the GFA) and relations (e.g. Council of Europe and ECHR),

    – presentations on EU structures and EU legislative (Council Working Parties, Council of Ministers, European Parliament – all member states) and Administrative (Commission Technical Adaption Committees – all member states plus observers from EFTA members and accession candidates)) processes

from both sides of the debate to be topped off with the proposed form of brexit, if any, before putting it to a referendum.

But we are where we are and there's no going back.

  9. Here is a couple of things about rejoining:
A: Get rid of the corruption.
No chance any Nordic country, will accept UK with all the corruption and bend elections. Nordic people really hates corruption from their heart.
    B. Accept the Euro.
As you can see, with these two things alone, it will take decades.
C: Join the queue, after Albania, the Republic of North Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, (Turkey), Moldova and Ukraine. To make it worse, the EU is a little pressed after saying yes to Moldova and Ukraine, so it will take many more years before they open up for one or more countries on the candidate list.
You British have to realize this and get the best out of your situation. Don't fight the EU, it is bloody stupid, work with the EU, it will benefit you in the long run.

  10. custom union? do you think that the EU would except the UK back into the custom union now, after what the UK government and the UK press have said about the EU?
it would be like a man saying to his X-wife OK I will except you back "even though you lied about me"
I live in the EU (I am English born in Lytham St. Ann's), I also have friends from the EU living in the UK. and from what my friends have told me! I have had more help from the UK to keep on living here than my friends have had to say in the UK (some of my friends have Doctorates in there profession)

  11. What kind of a transition??? Gradually limiting the freedom of movement? Slowly lowering the quality standards? Cautiously eroding the Union? Seriously, you guys, even rejoiners, have a real commitment problem. Either you are in or you stay out.

  12. First 😁

1:03 'stayed in the SM and then phase out' ….. someone should tell Mr Hannan that the UK enjoyed exactly this kind of transition period from Feb 1st, 2020 to Dec 31st, 2020.

IIRC the EU had offered a longer transition period – but the UK rejected the offer.

Old German saying: 'Wer nicht will der hat schon' 😁.
